God does not ask for your money, the "Church" asks for your money, saying that it is in God's name.

My problem there is their reason for doing so. God has no interest in grandeur, only humility. So "The Glory of the Church" and all the edifices to human excess that we see just leave me cold.

Obama does not ask for your money, either. He doesn't have to. It just magically disappears from your pay cheque every week/month. That's just life.

I would rather he hadn't promised away this year's wages, next year's, too, and quite a few years after that on things which weren't quite thought through (the banks, the auto industry, healthcare reforms, etc.) He's not alone in that. He's just the current POTUS, so his target is, for the moment, that much larger than anyone else's.
