how long do u have to stay for wedding

I recently read somewhere that you should stay up to a month prior to the wedding in your fiance's country. I will not be able to do this. He says he can get everything arranged so I wont have to be there. Is there some kind of requirement for this?

It probably depends on the country that you get married in. I got married 6 days after I arrived in Sweden, though that was cutting it close for getting the license to be married.

My husband was able to get our marriage license with my birth certificate and me not present, but that was canada. I landed at 10 a.m. and was married at 6 p.m. the same day.

It probably would depend on the country. We were married in German--I didn't have to be a resident, but there was a ton of paperwork that had to be processed first, but my husband took care of that before I arrived. We had our civil service about 3 days after I arrived.
