We are going to book our tickets to the US soon, and as it seems to be a prevalent problem, I thought it might be worth some extra cash to make sure Nik goes through POE where there are fewer chances of his medical being lost.

I'm actually really curious about Phoenix, as he could have a direct flight here, but there's only been ONE POE review....in 2005!!

I've just thrown up the most reviewed POEs, figured I'd get the most responses from there.

I have seen lots of discussion of RFEs for the full medical, and it seems to be due to a disconnect between the DO NOT OPEN envelope at POE and the USCIS file your AOS meets up with. I'll assume if the poll is well distributed that it's USCIS error. If one or two POEs seem to be heavy hitters disproportionate to their review numbers (the percentages at the side), then maybe we have solved the mystery? Anyway, just curious/bored. I hope enough people vote to make the poll meaningful. *guilt trip eyes*

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.

More detailed time line in profile.

Don't know if this will be helpful to you but just thought I would contribute... My husband flew through Dublin airport to Chicago. I was with him and we were totally shocked to find out that the US Immigration took place there in Dublin!! So, they kept his papers there. We actually don't know if anything has been lost from his brown envelope because we are just getting his papers together now to file his AOS. I guess we'll know for sure later on. Just thought I would contribute this so your fiance doesn't fly through Dublin. At least if he goes through a POE in the US his papers will be in the right country. We are a little freaked out that his papers did not come with us. We don't know when, how or if they arrived in the States.

I don't know if it's POE or USCIS themselves that lose the medicals. Both my wife and step daughters entered through JFK. My wife's was ok, my daughters' medical was "misplaced".

I don't think it's the POEs that lose them. And I don't even think the USCIS "loses" them, I think they deliberately misplace ###### just to drag out the process because they're evil and have nothing better to do :P

I got an RFE for the medical, but I honestly think it was just the Charlotte district office dickin' around, and not any fault of the POE. As soon as we got the Senator's office involved, they miraculously "found" the file.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

My wife and step daughter (K1 and K2 at the time), came through Detroit last July. At AOS time the daughters package was fine, the wifes medical was missing. Interviewer went and talked to her supervisor and approved the green card. She told us it was a US gov't screw up and she was not going to delay us for that. Don't know if they ever found it, but she knew they couldn't have gotten the K1/K2 visa's without it.

I have contacted my congressmen to no avail. I'm now working with my senator's office which seems to be more fruitful, but still no results.

Wow. Old thread. May as well add that there are two files.... a temporary and a main. If your medical gets lost, please see this post.
