Is it possible to "pass" the visa interview if spouse overstayed visa

My husband worked in the states without a visa prior to our marriage three years ago. We were married in the states, while he was there without a visa, and then we moved to Canada and have been working on the visa process ever since. I am just curious if we have any chance of passing the interview next week we were completely honest on all our paperwork about his work and everthing, hoping that our honestly will be rewarded :innocent:

Has anyone been approved without any type of ban or fine after working illegal?

Need more info. Who is the American citizen? You or your husband.

Overstays are one thing, which are usually forgiven when you marry a US citizen. However, working illegally? Not really sure about that one. You said you were honest about it so, if you are asked at the interview which I'm sure you will be, just answer with the truth and see what happens.

okay, gotcha.

Again, you were honest so just wait and see what happens. That's all you can do. In your case, you probably should have hired a lawyer.

We did have a lawyer at first, but he really screwed things up which is why it has taken us so long to get to this point. I guess lawyers are human too :o) so mistakes happen. But I wish now we would have spent the money on another lawyer, it wouldn't be as scary now!
