Okay, everyone, deep breaths.

1) You fill out the I-134 for the K1 Visa/Interview @ the Consulate. The I-864 is when you file for AOS after you get married.

2) You ONLY have to show that your INCOME is 125% of the 2009 Poverty guidelines. This is true for ALL consulates.

3) If your INCOME is below 125% of the poverty guidelines, you must make up the difference with 5X the difference. Some consulates require 3X, Naples requires 5X. Strega, please read my example above. However, this doesn't even apply to you as your income is above the level. Supplementing your income (e.g. you earn less than 125% of poverty guidelines) is the ONLY reason to provide assets.

Hope that helps!

Glad to put your mind to rest, Strega! And yes, they are surprisingly helpful/quick to respond in Naples. Ste&Velma had luck contacting them as well.

Not sure about the carabineri thing, try emailing the consulate w/that...you'll have an answer by morning (as I've been getting).

ok will do, I bet you are so excited that you've come this far,,by looking at similar timelines , it says about 2 months to get interview, but i think if you fax the ds230 right away with the applicants statement maybe it can speed it up!! My fiance wants to come visit me with his son, but Im afraid it might be a waste of money since there is a risk of turning him back. Its so hard trying to talk over the computer to explain everything he needs to do, and yo know in Italy they do everything slow(except driving))!!

Ha, yes good point...am hoping we make it in before August and the country takes a holiday!

Not sure what to say about the trip, it's a little tricky, but maybe if he has a letter from the employer, return tickets, etc, it might be worth it to try...

I dont know if they embassy takes the 3 weeks Fiere , but, if they do, I'm out of luck, I was hoping to get it all done so he could arrive in September, I like the date 09/09/09 to get married. he wil have a hard time forgeting that date. Vespa so the way I see it, it costs 131.00 for each applicant, then 180.00 for medical (adult) 60.00(child) then cost of additional vaccines which I am telling him to get done before so it will be cheaper. anything other charges you know of?

Nope, that's it, only other thing would be the cost of staying there the night since the medical is always the day before the interview.

I got the same automatic response, and then an email from someone there the next day. Don't worry, it's just so they can happily surprise you when they respond in < 2 weeks.

Don't worry... That's the right address, and the answer you received now is just the automated one that is sent anytime you write them. You are likely to receive an answer from an officer in a range of time that goes from 3 days (like in my case) to the day after (as happened to VR). We'll all be fine, guys! ;)

Best of luck to anybody!

Non c'è di che!

However, about the Consulate's vacations you can easily consult the holiday's chart from the homepage of Naples.

http://naples.usconsulate.gov/english/ - Look at your right, second box from the top. Hope it helps! :)

Buongiorno a tutti! :) Hope everything is fine with all of you.

I just sent a new email to the consular officer I have been communicating with, asking her when to send the "Applicant's Statement", and if I'm going to receive any letter from them about the interview I scheduled last week. Let's wait and see what happens!

A presto!

Stefano

Wow! Just checked my mailbox and her response was already there.

She confirmed me that I DON'T need to send the "Applicant's Statement", as the interview has already been scheduled. Apparently, everything was fine just by sending the DS-230 I. I believe they have probably changed something in their procedures down there. In fact, the own form reports a Dec. 2002 date... :innocent:

Saluti! :)
