Hi there,

Just starting a thread here for any and all of us that have our fiance's (or for the fiances) that will be heading to Naples this summer or fall for interviews.

I'm the USC petitioner and just learned from NVC that our information was sent to Naples yesterday, so now we wait to receive an email/letter from Naples with Packet 3!

Anyone else?

Ciao!

I am the beneficiary. My fiancè received packet 3 by email. I was waiting for it by mail and surprised it ended up on the junk folder so it tooks 3 weeks to discover it.

Hopefully I will have the interview by the end of August.

Salve italiani! :)

Called on Wednesday to schedule my interview and medical exams; they set for the 29th and 30th. I am currently looking for accommodations in Napoli, even though everything looks pretty expensive down there. Luckily I am coming from Rome so I can travel by car, being not that far. As acinlove, it was my fiancée who received the packet 3 by e-mail, so she immediately forwarded it to me. When I came back here form PR I sent the DS-230 part I via fax on June the 1st, and at the same time I wrote an e-mail to the Consulate to have information about some needed documents. My fiancée received on the 3rd an e-mail saying that since then I could have called the toll number to schedule my interview. Moreover, the same girl from these last e-mails answered me like three days later; looks like she's the one following our case. So far everything has been very smooth; hope it will keep on going like this.

Just one thing doesn't appear very clear to me; am I supposed to send the "Applicant's Statement" anyway? The girl who replied me wrote that I don't need to send 'em anything else. Does anybody of you have information about this? I think I'm going to write her once again and kindly ask her.

Needless to say I'm so excited about all of this! I'm here crossing my fingers and praying God for being able to be with my beloved one as soon as possible... again!

Good luck to everybody, e a presto! ;)

Hello Vespa Rossa!!!

I am the petitioner for Stefano, who replied a while ago. If NVC sent your information to Naples yesterday, it won't take more than a week for the package to arrive there. The important thing is for your fiance to start gathering all the required information. The vaccines thing can be a pain if he still has some pending; luckily, Stefano got rid of all that immediately he got back to Italy. He did his HIV last week and has the results. Tell your fiance to start requesting his Birth Certificate (Estratto di nascita), because it can take some weeks to process; my fiance got his through an agency which only takes 15 days to process. Stefano sent his fax to the Embassy on June 1 and on June 3, he got his email requesting him to call within a week for his interview appointment. He called this past Wednesday and got his interview for June 30. We were afraid of all this process, because we read it would take USCIS from 6 to 8 months to process, but it is not true. We sent our package to USCIS on January 24 and on May 1, we got their approval. From then on, everything has been very fast. At this point you should know that if you have evidence, evidence, evidence of your relationship, this whole process is pretty easy and smooth; luckily for me, since November, Stefano has been in Puerto Rico twice; out of 7 months, he has spent 5 with me. He was here when we got the approval and left two weeks ago which was also great, because he had to take some documentation signed by me and notarized, and I didn't have to spend any postage to send him the stuff; he took everything with him.

Don't worry; the process you are going through now, is very fast. As I mentioned, just tell your fiance, to start processing all required documentation and you should have nothing to worry about.

Best of luck from Puerto Rico,

Velmarie

Wow, you guys are great! Thanks for all the messages. My fiance is gathering all his documents now in Sicily and I'll be on the lookout for Packet 3 in my email by end of next week. I'm going to try and email the consulate, as I have a question about income, so hopefully I will have someone respond quickly, like Stefano. I will also tell my fiance to take care of his shots now, as it will probably cost much less at home instead of in Naples.

Velmarie--so great to hear how quickly Naples moves! I was fearing the worst, especially as August is coming up.

Stefano--I would def send the Applicant's Statement, read on the Naples site that they won't move forward until they have it, and shouldn't be too hard to fill it out and fax.

Let's all keep each other posted! E alla fine potremo fare una brindisi insieme!

Just a quick note...have been emailing with a VERY helpful woman at the Naples consulate (as I was worried my contractor wage wouldn't be valid for the I-134 income requirements, luckily it is, as Naples requires 5X the poverty guidelines in assets, e.g. $90K!). Anyway, just wondering how everyone is doing. I'm frantically checking my email inbox/spam box for the elusive Packet 3! :)

If the American doesn't earn enough income to meet the pass the poverty line requirements, they must make up the difference in assets, where $5 of assets = $1 in income. If your income was $15k/year, and poverty requirement is $18k, then you have a $3k difference but must show 3 X 5 = $15k in assets. Does that make sense?

(Some consulates require 3X, Naples requires 5X. I thought they wouldn't accept my contractor day rate as income, which is why I thought I would have to show $90K in assets $18K X 5, but they told me they will).

Thanks, you scared me I thought that he had to show an income of 90K and plus! BTW that would be great!

So he is above the poverty line, can I relax tonight? I already started shacking when I read your post!

Buona notte!

Oops! So sorry to scare you. Yes, if his income is above the poverty line no need to show any assets at all. Rilassati!

ok lets say the poverty guideline 125% for three is $22887.00 a year(which I do make and more) do I have to make 22887.00 times 5=which is 114435.00 a year, then subract what I make and make up the difference times five in assets, or is making more than 22887.00 suffucient? sorry, im confused

Okay, everyone, deep breaths.

1) You fill out the I-134 for the K1 Visa/Interview @ the Consulate. The I-864 is when you file for AOS after you get married.

2) You ONLY have to show that your INCOME is 125% of the 2009 Poverty guidelines. This is true for ALL consulates.

3) If your INCOME is below 125% of the poverty guidelines, you must make up the difference with 5X the difference. Some consulates require 3X, Naples requires 5X. Strega, please read my example above. However, this doesn't even apply to you as your income is above the level. Supplementing your income (e.g. you earn less than 125% of poverty guidelines) is the ONLY reason to provide assets.

Hope that helps!
