English Translation of a Vietnamese Police Certificate - Sample Request

I am translating documents from Vietnamese to English to submit to the NVC in regards to my brother's immigration case. My Vietnamese is adequate so I am able to translate most of the them. I am having problems with the police certificate. Can someone send me a sample of a Vietnamese police certificate that has been translated into English so I can use it as a model in translating my brother's certificate?

Not true. All documents submitted which are not in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. The certification is just a statement by the translator that they are fluent in both languages.

If you have to get a police certificate in another country besides the one the country where beneficiary is going to interview at then you do have to get it translated, but if the police certificate is in Vietnam and your spouse/fiance(e) is going to interview in Vietnam then it's not necessary.

The NVC states that the police certificate must be translated as the case is being processed at the NVC in the United States. The official language of the United States is English which is where the application for the visa is being made. It does not have to be translated only if the processing was happening in the foreign country. Processing in the US = must translate into English. Processing in foreign country where the application is being made = don't have to be translated. The interview still occurs in the beneficiary's country.

It's safer to translate documents into English regardless of the application. Why risk sending something in a foreign language and have it rejected.

My brother's immigration visa application is being sent to the NVC in the US.

My wife and I are visiting her family in VietNam right now and we are having difficulty getting the police certificate. The local police don't seem to know or understand what we need. Does anyone have a sample of the Certificate in Vietnamese? Thanks

Are you going to the police, or the provincial or city Department of Justice (Sở Tư Pháp)?

You must go to the the provincial or city Department of Justice (Sở Tư Pháp). They will issue a certificate when you show them the IV bill or another immigration document with the beneficiary's name. If you don't have a IV bill or similar document, they may not issue a certificate.
