I hope everyone is doing well.

I have a problem, and my wife and I just can't get a break.

Problem:

We applied for the I-765 and the I-485 at the same time in early March (Chicago).

I finally received my EAD (approved) on May 26. HOWEVER, USCIS (Chicago office) had my birthdate wrong. I am born 1980, on the card it said 1982. Since I provided the correct documents and copies (I-94) with my birthdate, they messed up...but I have to pay for it.

I went to the SS office in Wichita, KS to get my card. Since my EAD had the wrong b.date on it, they refused to issue a SS card for me.

It sucks, because I have a great employer just waiting for my EAD!

Anyway, I called USCIS and they told me to reapply, which I did (they received the new application June 3rd).

I provided the correct documents, the EAD, new photographs, a letter stating the problem etc. (however, no copies).

USCIS also told me that I don't have to attach a check, since most likely they caused the missprint.

What I wonder is how long it will take for me to get the new ID. USCIS told me that first I will get a receipt, which I can bring to the SS office to get my card, is this correct? They also told me that I have to do the biometrics again, is this correct?

I would be really happy if someone who has been in the same situation could explain to me how long it took them to sort out this mess etc.

Take care people, and good luck!
