I'm on connect2Canada as well and didn't get that email. Perhaps they only sent it out to those within a specific geographical area?

There is an Atlanta Canada Day party but it is very focused on hockey and is in a sports bar. While it would be fun to meet up with other Canadians, neither of us are sports or hockey fans and we (gasp!) aren't big beer drinkers either, so we have passed on going the last few years.

This year on the same day at the Atlanta Canada Day party (Saturday) Joe and I are going instead to Karen and Joel's place north of Atlanta to meet Joel's parents who are visiting and to have a good old fashioned Canadian style barbeque. We are looking forward to that - it will be good to see Karen and Joel again - and to see their kitty that they adopted last year - another one of the strays from our back yard, hehehehe!

On July 1st itself I'm going out for lunch with two of my friends for a belated birthday party and a Canada Day celebration.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Annual Canada Day Event

Saturday, June 27, 2009

Dust off your maple leaf, unfurl your red and white flags, grab your toque and get off the chesterfield to join CanDiego for the most awesome party of the year! Celebrate Canada's 142nd birthday a few days early in San Diego! CanDiego is having its annual Canada Day party on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Coronado Cays Yacht Club (www.ccyc.org ) starting at 5:30 pm. This is CanDiego's premier event of the year. The CCYC is an amazing venue. We can hang out in the spacious main dining room, the bar, or the patio. There's even a small grassy area for kids to play games and a swing set. All this with a beautiful view of the harbour. If you wish, you can even sail right up to the facility instead of driving there.& nbsp;Celebrate Canada Day in the best CanDiego tradition with Canadian beer ($4 each) and great food like maple glazed turkey burgers, Canadian blue beef burgers, and of course, veggie burgers. The burgers come with fries at a great price of $10.95 each. We'll have networking games, a raffle with great prizes, and of course, the singing of O Canada by an esteemed choir.

Meet lots of Canadians and friends of Canada. Bring the kids, too! This is one party you won't want to miss, eh!

When: Saturday, June 27, 2009, starting at 5:30 pm

Where: Coronado Cays Yacht Club, 30 Caribe Cay Boulevard, Coronado, CA

Parking Options: free parking in the yacht club's parking lot or on the surrounding side streets

Admission: $10 per adult (cash only). Children under 18 years of age admitted free. Admission cost includes a raffle ticket.
