I do believe that the embassy in D.C will be holding an event also and last year Mike and I went and it was awesome. So if anyone wants to go this year let me know! Amanda will also be there I believe. You have to RSVP so when I get more details I will post them.

Jill you should come to DC too with your husband! It's a lot of fun and a good day trip.

Last year it was right on July 1st so it will be on a Wednesday.

There are trains but Mike and I drive there if you want to catch a ride with us thats no problem at all. All the museums in DC are free so afterwards we usually walk around in those. Last year we got home at about 9:00 or so. But if you want to take a train there are those as well.

I'll actually be in Windsor during the July 4th weekend. So I think there they combine the two like they used to do in the past into one international long weekend event with fireworks and beer tents and ####### like that everywhere. We might check out things in the day during the week, but for the 4th I'll be drinking beer at a friends house who lives out in the country with a ton of my old college buddies etc.

I think it's the International Freedom Festival is what they call the July 4th and Canada thingy day long weekend...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

That would be awesome... the only reason I wouldn't be able to go is if I have a job by then, but at the rate things are going right now, I most likely will not

that's funny you say that because last year I got this job and they wanted me to start on the 1st and I said I couldn't.

Usually they tell you to start in two weeks anyways so hopefully you will have time... if you get a job.

I want you to get one, but I don't want you to start until after Canada day.

Thanks for the link! There are no parties here in Missouri. I was thinking of this several months ago, and posted a note on craigslist looking for Canadians in the St. Louis area for a meet-up, Canada Day picnic, whatever...and got one response, from a young American lady from St. Louis that had been in Canada about 10 years ago for a visit.

Gene bought tickets for us for the Cardinals game that evening. :)

 It was my plan to go but now I've got to go back to Canada on July 2nd for this damn Nexus thing!!!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

It all depends for me too if I get a job, but you never know right? :)
