i heard that instead of showing your appointment letter for your interview to obtain your police clearance in india u can just show an NVC checklist? what is an NVC checklist? my wife is from gujarat india. she has to go to ahmedabad to get it. thanks

You will not get an appointment and letter until you provide the required docs to NVC.

I am not sure, but this is what I think it is. NVC checklist is the RFE, which has all the things you need to provide for the NVC to complete your case. So, example, you are missing a police certificate, it will be indicated in the said checklist. And, maybe, that is the one you need to show the India staff for them to give you a copy of your police cert. But, that is not good because it's like they are telling you to submit incomplete documents to NVC so they can give you the checklist. Or, on the other hand, it could just be the list of things you have to submit to the NVC. I'm not sure which one.

Here is the example of the checklist i got. Mine was a stupid error i sent in a copy of i-864 instead of the original.

NVC has reviewed the financial evidence submitted. However, additional information is required to

complete the financial evidence review. The checklist below indicates missing or incomplete

documents. In order to make corrections you will need to download a new form at

www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov. You will need to complete and submit a new form with the changes

noted below. Please provide all requested documents and refer to page two for mailing instructions.
