My older sister was an azz about my husband. She's quite narrow-minded and elitist about people, in general. She's an import herself (born in Malta), so she has a nerve to be suspicous of "foreigners". We avoid spending time with her as much as possible, so it's better now. One of my daughters was not cool for about 9 months after he got here, but she's better now. Pretty much everyone in my family and among my friends and co-workers is an import or a child of imports, so we haven't had to deal with too much idiocy. Hubby is well-mannered and friendly, so he's well-liked by most, thank God.

Today at work, I was filling out the IV paperwork to send in, and my co-workers were sitting around the table. I sealed the envelope for express mail, set it on table and said: "Man, this is the most expensive sex I have ever had. S#$!t, the mailing charges alone..."

One of my co-workers spit out the sprite he was drinking when he burst out laughing.

The OP hangs out with a very classy bunch.

All the dumb comments about our relationship were solely made by my mother and parents-in-law.

I remember back when he came to visit and meet my family in 2003, my mother pulled me aside and said that he'd "...knock you up and leave, because that's what men do and what are you going to do when he does that? You aren't aborting my grandchild, but there is no way I am going to help you either." My husband wasn't sure if he should be insulted or just laugh hysterically when I told him that. The first of many crazy encounters with STBMIL.
