Every time I try to download the I-865 from the uscis website (http://www.uscis.gov/i-865) I get a message saying that I need a newer version of Adobe Reader. I currently have the newest version. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there somewhere else I can get this form online? Thanks!

Works for me.

You may have to un-install adobe reader and reinstall it.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Hi Babydoll**,

Likewise, I had the same problem downloading ALL USCIS forms on my computer (quite a lot throughout my entire immigration journey!). And yes, I also had the error messages that said about needing a newer version of Adobe Reader (even though I had such already, and it worked for downloading other non-uscis pdf files).

What I did was that I went to my local library and printed them out there, as for some weird reason it worked from that location.

Lol...at 25 cents a page....Well, let's just say that my local library was very happy with my "donations"... :lol: (lol..in fact, I just went there a couple of weeks ago for the same I-865 form and other forms too)

So yes, if you are able to, try downloading USCIS forms from another location, and see if that would help...

Don't count on the unreliable USCIS to send you any forms...just download and print them off online yourself instead...

P.S. I forgot to mention that....

My computer broke from attempting to download a USCIS form too many times...

Lesson learned: Don't let the USCIS break your home computer! Download forms elsewhere!

Good tip about clearing your cookies .. or your cache. You can also try opening up the files using a different browser. For instance, use Netscape instead of Explorer, or try Safari or Firefox.

Feb 25, 26 & 28 - got emails saying that the cases had been transferred to another office, then to my local office, and then just transferred and are being processed

Mar 17 - got email, attached to one case number only, saying that my A number was changed relating to the I-130 filing

Clearing cookies will make no difference in this case. Cookies are the responsibility of and kept exclusively by the web browser software (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc). Despite that it normally runs inside your web browser, Adobe Reader is independent of it and does not have access to your cookies.

Anyway, assuming you're not using a years old version, you should be able to view the document without issue if you elect to ignore the warning about newer versions.

If you really have problems downloading the forms and you don't want to make a sizeable donation to your local library's running costs, you could always call the misinformation line and ask them to send you one (ordering forms is one of the first menu options). I believe it's free. Heck, you could even make an infopass and go and collect them from your local office ;)
