I had my HR guy do mine, it said something like - "Slim has been working here for X years and is a full-time employee in good standing with an hourly pay rate of $XX.XX If you have any questions regarding Slim's employment status, feel free to contact me at 513-123-4567."

Refresh my memory on the whole "2 of 4" thing? I can't remember exactly what the options were and I'm too lazy to look them up. I remember doing an employer letter, three check stubs, bank statement (generic "Slim has been a customer here since XX-XX-XXXX and has an average balance of $XXX,XXX. Any questions do not hesitate to contact me at 513-123-4576." -HA! Too many Xs in that balance!) and a copy of W-2. I'm pretty sure that's all I sent.

Basically, all they wanna see is "sivad is employed (employer letter) and makes more than 120% of poverty level (check stubs) puts his money in the bank and pays bills (bank statement) and we know it's true because the IRS confirmed it. (W-2s)" You don't need to list all your millions of dollars in stock options, vacation homes, off-shore accounts, etc. Like all other things in this process - KISS. Jump through the hoop they want you to jump through.

Ensure your beneficiary makes and brings with them to the States a copy of the DS-3025 (vaccination form)

If the government is going to force me to exercise my "right" to health care, then they better start requiring people to exercise their Right to Bear Arms. - "Where's my public option rifle?"

I don't see why your direct supervisor couldn't do it. As long as it's "official" it should be fine.

I wanna say I had just filed my taxes so I sent that year's plus the year before. I don't think you need more than one but since I had two available I sent the two. I wouldn't be going through a lot of trouble to dig up the last three years or last five or anything like that. Send 'em one or two, you'll be fine.

I'm not really sure what you're asking about as far as "options." Send the stuff I outlined above and you'll be fine. A lot of that ####### on the I-130 or whatever it is they use for businesses sponsoring workers or folks who want to hire an au paire or those kinds of things. K-1 is basically a "formality" that USCIS just kind of pieced together out of all their other visa application processes.

I have a government job, and I get a statement every time there is a cost of living adjustment (not much, but I'll take it!) -- it shows my position and salary. The last one I got was at the beginning of the year. Is this statement, along with recent earnings statements, considered adequate proof that I have a job and am in good standing? Or do I need something more personalized and up to date -- a letter from HR department along the lines of what you were describing?

Slim, what a coincidence - you're workplace and your bank have the same phone number except for the last two digits! :P

05/04/09 -- K1 visa, NOA-1

09/18/09 -- K1, NOA-2

01/26/09 -- Interview passed in Moscow

03/02/10 -- POE, JFK airport

05/23/10 -- Wedding!

11/16/10 -- 2-year green card approved

04/01/13 -- 10-year green card approved

11/23/13 -- N-400 mailed

I think you only need photocopies as they're just wanting to see the info. They can easily verify through IRS if they want proof. I sent a printout from TurboTax or whatever I used the year I did it.

If you don't have "the most glorious of pay" you should probably have an indepth discussion with your fiancee before she comes here. My wife still sticks to the story that I misled her about my pay - or not so much my pay, but my bills - and hasn't been really happy about our financial situation since. She was definitely not under the impression that she'd be contributing to our household budget and I don't think she really considered having to work a full time job either. She thought she was going to show up, sip coffee with her friends and go shopping when she wasn't inconvenienced by going to class at university. When she was confronted with the fact that she'd have to work a fulltime job to help pay household expenses, she was devastated and still holds me accountable.

Make sure that doesn't happen to you.

It may work, but that sounds more like a paystub or benefits summary. What you really want is a letter from someone who says, "Hey, this guy works here, he's going to continue working here, and if you don't believe him, you can call me." You should have some kind of personnel office you fall under who could type up some kind of letter. And, having it more current couldn't hurt.

Yes, my bank and my employer have pretty similar phone numbers. They both like to take my money.

The "proof" that you're providing in this whole process is for nothing more than establishing the fact that you'll be able to support your beneficiary after they arrive. It's not an investigation into your past or anything like that, it's not an IRS audit, it's just to prove that you make money and can pay for things. Think of it in terms of being able to prove to the average joe desk jockey that you can support a two person household, not trying to prove to an accountant that you have a papertrail of financial support info.
