I don't mind a bit of fun and can certainly handle a lot of bull #######. What I don't like is being stalked, corned and antagonized. Only to be suspended or banned when I punch back.

Within the last year, most of my posts are followed by a resident clown who simply wants to antagonize.

I didn't know joking was a violation. I get suspended often enough too, unfairly too. Did you ever consider what you say brings those reactions from people? Obviously you do it intentionally, to get the desired reaction. Nobody comes to an American immigration forum and critcizes the US with every post and expects people to accept it as their opinion. You know perfectly well why you do it. To antagonize. And then you cry foul? Please.

The usual suspects enjoy trying to get a rise out of those they harrass. If they don't get one, they accuse you of being annoyed, ranting, angry, lying (pick a descriptor) anyway. They've thrown everything but the kitchen sink at me, without much success. It's even easy to tell when the baiting strategy changes, coz they tend to march in sync. I'm no victim. I choose to come back, knowing that the zoo is open 24/7 and that the imates run the asylum. Lower your expectations, understand the MO of each agitator, and you can keep on truckin' just fine.

Well I do think some people are very good at being rude, and some others are better at being nice. I don't care what political side they are on. Jerks are jerks, and I'd rather not deal with them much. I have not seen only nice behavior from VW or alienchild, it's not like they are innocent lambs being attacked. But I do get annoyed seeing people go after someone who did nothing to antagonize and yeah some people who do that are the same who attack ppl during political discussions too. There are double standards in my opinion, yes. If your posting style isn't going to change, and theirs isn't, you will just butt heads forever or ignore each other. I'm not saying which to do, it's just reality. Your placing bets thing is just funny man. I think I asked you this in the past, but can I have some money?

Here is an example or two. If I suggest I don't agree with the current legal system, rather than anyone with differing views discussing it, I will be bombarded with insults. Same goes with mentioning Australia. To some, this bombarding others with insults is a legitimate form of discussion.

Since that is wrong, we should just take six and those who think along his lines word for it then. No matter what anyone else says, they are wrong. Challenging these same people to walk the talk and back their opinions with liquid cash also seems to fall on deaf ears.

I do agree that there are double standards sometimes, with who gets a hard time around here. But it's also the way you or others say things that gets it started. Are you hot? For some ppl that might affect how they treat you. Not for me, I don't hate you already whether you are ugly or hot. But it might help out with some folks. Sorry I just couldn't resist...just couldn't.

But yeah I don't even read around here as much as I used to, yet it never fails that you and Pike are bickering. We all have ppl that push our buttons, while some avoid each other usually, if that's the case. You two seem to run straight towards each other like battering rams. What's up with that?

I'm actually pretty new to this whole OT scene on VJ.

Ask AJ or Spooky, they'll tell you, I really am just a pathetic n00bz here. But I like to think I'm a quick understudy.

Rule #1 - be very, very suspicious of those that take themselves too seriously here. This is comedy, it's not heavy drama.

I first encountered constellation, oh, maybe a month ago. There were two message threads that were under discussion - one on illegal immigration. The other on the US Constitution. N00b that I was (and am), I actually engaged him in serious debate. I wrote long posts, full of references to text, chapter, and verse. And I constructed rational arguments to explain my views.

It took a day or two, and a few solid wasted hours, to see what I was dealing with. He doesn't read. He doesn't comprehend. He doesn't follow a logical point. What he can and does, is repeat ad infinitum his "points" regarding (1) America is overrun by illegals and we all bask meekly in their glow and welcome them with open arms, unlike every other country which hunts them mercilessly, most notably Australia (2) American cities are overrun with crime and are in full decay, while we meekly and gladly sit back and think they're just wonderful -- unlike every other country which has spotless crime free cities, most notably Australia (3) The US Constitution is an ancient relic, just a rag, and anyone who takes it seriously (as do far too many of us on VJ for his tastes, apparently) is a fool -- unlike every other country in the world which does not suffer this constitutional myopia, most notably Australia.

Well that's about what his position seems to be founded on. Also some homoerotic love for Rupert Murdoch's Fox News, being Aussie of course.

And that lamborghini that you noted.

Well, being that I like to think I am somewhat well versed on the subject matter and I saw flaws in his positions, I hastened to correct. I thought I was being quite helpful, informing a new immigrant to our fair land that things were not as bad here as he feared, and perhaps even earn from him a "Oh thanks, mate! I appreciate the helpful pointers!", and then merrily be on my way.

However, as stated, any and all attempts to patiently explain certain facts to him are immediately retorted to that these are simply not facts. That's when he reads and recognizes the patiently constructed argument, which is rare. Usually he will just take 3 paragraphs of prose and elide them with "...." in his response, which ignores the contents thereof. And then he claims triumphantly we have not refuted him.

So, it took a few days for this to dawn on me. I could of course just ignore him. That's the mature thing to do. But if OT is anything at all, it most certainly is NOT mature.

So, we just entertain ourselves by bantering with him. It's really good sport, rather like getting a big bass on the line. Quite thrilling. You might want to try it.

Well a couple things I'd like to say...I have been on VJ a long time, and actually OT is not only for comedy(I personally wouldn't want to learn OT skills from spookyturtle, are you kidding me lol), maybe it has become more so that way, which whatever, who cares really. But there have been many nice and fun topics at the same time over the years. I don't see it as a playground to purposely be stupid in. Yeah it is the off topic area, to talk about whatever people want. Sometimes people want to talk about something nice too, and not have it ruined on purpose, which is something that can annoy me. As you may have seen recently. I don't act like a child on purpose in OT, if I do it's not on purpose. I try to be nice most of the time. I am not going to take advantage of OT.

About the encounters with Constellation, I can't say anything about your perspective since it's yours and well I think most people would see your 1-3 points as well observed. However I just don't think he is that horrible, just emotionally driven while posting, which I have seen other people do too. Who have views on the other side. So what are ya going to do...well me, I just read and think Pike and Constellation are cute bickering, like brothers maybe. UK and Australia rivalry?

BY - I don't think you realise that a lot of the stuff you say is offensive and highly inflammatory.

You have said flat out - that blacks and hispanics should have diminished rights because a lot of crime is committed by people from those ethnicities. This includes (but is not limited to) being stopped and searched by police without cause, and that parts of the US constitution should not apply to them.

You also show a complete lack of understanding of social problems in this country - and your only recourse for discussion are bizarre Daz Challenge anecdotes, TV shows, Music videos and Grand Theft Auto. Suggesting for example that the solution to African famine (you've also said words to the effect that Africans are incapable of running countries - because its typical of black people) is for the starving people to move to where the food is.

It would be funny if you weren't so serious about it, and if you didn't take yourself so seriously in the bargain.

Ron is someone who actively engages in heavy drama, so that's the first contradiction. I made the comment that Obama's coddling of dictators was an invitation for another terrorist attack on the US, and he demanded I apologize for WANTING more terrorism. I didn't say I wanted more terrorism, but I'm Muslim, so that means I'm a terrorist, in his mind, and Ron takes himself o sooo seriously.

Since then, he makes announcements about how he won't ever respond to me. Oh! The drama, the hypocrisy, and the lies.
