Does anyone know if the Birth Certificate for the AOS needs to be from an official translator or can it be from someone that is fluent in both languages and can have in notorized?? I have read some conflicting things on the internet and this web site and the USCIS web site is not very clear about this.

Any experiences would be helpful! Thanks!

USCIS requirements are that the translator MUST be competent in both languages and sign a certification statement accordingly.

YMMV

Anyone competent in both languages (even you) that states their name address and phone number and states it is a true and accurate translation. Notary not required. The USCIS website is very clear about this.
