Neither I, nor my hubby have any. I don't mind tattoos...I think some look great and others, well, to each their own. I will say though that on the tramp stamp, I always wonder how that will change when a woman gains a bunch of weight...which inevitably happens to many. Goes from being 4-5 inches long to like 10 - 12 inches long.

 I swear I just heard my fathers voice when you said "tramp stamp". Funny thing is my father had tatooes but was totally against them later in life. Neither I, nor my husband have them and we have discussed the subject, we never will. I happen to have tons of friends who have them and I think some of them are quite beautiful. However, its their body and they have to live with it later on....

I had a girlfriend who had a dolphin in a ying/yang design tatooed on her front hip area so that it showed when wearing a bikini. We teased her about when she has kids, she will have a whale not a dolphin. Well, many years and 3 kids later she had it removed because the location was less than ideal and it had stretched out way beyond her imagination. So I think location matters too :P

It seems my way with words isn't always so great, though I always mean things in the best way, when it comes to Islam.

I just need to learn a better way to say them. :)

Honey, no matter how you talk about religion, someone will find a way to be offended because God is not PC. That's not our fault.

We're Muslim, we have no tattoos and don't want any.

Niether of us do or ever wants one in the future....

actually that was the one of the first questions his family asked me when i arrived in Morocco... they were extremely relieved i had none and wanted none. I did not even want henna when we became engaged (which pleased his mother tremondously)henna is beautiful though .. not for me sorry..

My daughter however got her first one on her 19 birthday a few weeks ago and i went with her to the tatoo place and I cried like a baby. it is just sooooo permament and it so profiles ppl ( not as it used to though which is good) the guys at he shop were so nice calming me down and assuring me she would be fine and she can hide it for interviews and blah blah ..... i told them i would have cried even if it was my sons.... they tried to convince me to get a small one ... NOOOOO WAY>>>>>>>>>>

however i do like the art work that goes into alll of them talent talent talent.....

I've heard that having a pre-existing tattoo is somewhat like the issue of non-Muslim name. As long as it's not anti-Islam then there's not much issue with it. I've also thought it was funny that it's totally ok to have your ears pierced (a form of mutilating your body), or your nose pierced (in countries like Pakistan/India/Afghanistan) but tattoos are a taboo. Also a lot of Berber and even Arab women in North Africa tattoo their chins and foreheads and this is considered acceptable. Who knows!

I always wondered about this. I thought it was interesting that having ear's peirced is okay, but a tattoo is haram. Honestly, my feelings is that I can't judge anyone. It's all up to the person getting the tatoo and God.

As for me, unfortunately I have one. I got my name on my upper arm/shoulder when I was 18 to spite my mother. I wish I hadn't, but what's done is done. I thought about having it removed (though it doesn't look bad and no one except my hubby sees it now) but I keep it to remind me how foolish I was in some of the choices I made in life and how I am so thankful to have moved past that. Not to mention to have it removed is also a form of changing your body, which is why it's haram to get it in the first place. Ahmed doesn't have any and I wouldn't get another one.

Actually my understanding is that tattoos are considered "not accepted" in Islam, Christianity and Judaism. I know for sure Islam, but I thought the other two as well.

So its understood that if you are part of any of these organized religions that Tattoos are just unacceptable? Guess there are a lot of sinners or just plain atheists out there. hmmm something to ponder.

I have a shamrock with a celtic love knot in the middle of it. My Rida and my MIL & SIL actually like my tattoo. So, I haven't found it to be an issue. I was going to get another love knot with a heart incorporated with my sons' initals in the center of it. Haven't decided yet and have no immediate plans to do so.
