I missed a lot in here havent been here for a while. And yes, we got married last may 23, 2009 a very wonderful wedding indeed. But now, I have a big problem. We got our marriage certificate yesterday there was a mistake with my name, My first name which was supposed to be 2 names, they removed my second name and put it as my middle name and my middle name was the one that they put as my last name and now my former last name wasnt even there. When we applied for the marriage certificate everything was correct and now it was messed up.

I called the town hall today and they said they can fix it in 3-6 mos. OMG! are they kidding me? my visa will expire on August. What should I do? I called the USCIS and they said that I can still file my AOS but I need to get a copy of the correction and my documents will be on hold until i submitted my corrected marriage license. Im in dilemma right now!;(

I need some help here!

And also, I tried calling the Philippine consulate NY but all of there numbers are not working. Anyone here who has the recent number? thanks.

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

Well, don't call the town hall clerk. Go and speak to a supervisor and get the message across. It is preposterous it would take 3-6 months to correct their own mistake. If the documents were stored on MARS they could be here in 3-6 months. My guess is if you talk to the right person you can get it changed while you wait. If necessary go to a city council meeting and raise holy ....

You can use any combination of names (yours and husbands) that you like, no one can tell what name you can use. My wife uses her Patrynomic, in the Russian tradition, as she has all her life

Don't worry about your visa. That was one time use only. Now that you are married, and filing for AOS and EAD, you should be okay. It looks like some extra work for you to correct the matter, but once you file for the correction, you will have what you need for the AOS, Once you file, it will take at least 4 mos before your interview.

I agree. Contacting a lazy paper-pusher in the clerk's office is pointless. They are like the customer reps at USCIS, they repeat what they are read on some manual.

Go in person and ask for a supervisor and don't leave until they correct their mistake. Tell them you will be contacting your local politician if they don't get on it.

Everything is ok now. Yesterday, husband and I went to the town hall. Everything went well, I was surprised that they fixed it right away. We got our two registrations certificate and they told us that the one that will take a little while was the one in public records but we're ok now. And they gave two transcripts for free since the lady who did our paper admitted that it might be her fault. Now, Im relieved and can already file my AOS. It's time for me to start working on it now. Thanks everyone!;)

I am not surprised they fixed it right away. As you get to smaller divisions of government they get more responsive IF you talk to the right person and that is almost never the one that answers the phone. With any local matters, always go in person and make it clear you will wait while they fix it. Most of those people get elected to their positions by a handful of votes and they usually do not want to make the local voters angry over something so stupid.

Glad you got it sorted out. Good luck
