I have same issue. Entered on 30th of april and have only received two welcome letters on 9th and 14th of may. I wander why i got two same (only with different dates) welcome notices. So meanwhile I am waiting for the card, am I eligible to apply for a job and work? If not, how can i make that infopass appointment?

You should have a stamp in your passport that acts as a temp greencard until the plastic one arrives. This is good for both work and international travel and is valid for 12 months.

Have you got your SSN yet? if not then go to your local SSA office and find out if one has been issued or not. Once you have your SSN you are good to start employment.

As for the Greencard not showing up yet, I do know that USCIS has been upgrading their card production and this has caused delays for everyone. People are noe reporting that they are starting to get their cards in the mail so you should get your soon.

Thanks for the hope. I checked passport. There is a ellipse stamp, that shows I am admitted. Is this the one?

Yes, I do have a SSN from before. Hope to get real card soon.

It should say on the visa that once stamped acts as a I-551. Here is a photo of what it should look like.

The full image can be seen on page 47 here http://www.uscis.gov/files/nativedocuments/m-274.pdf

Hope this helps
