Does I-864 require same evidence as I-134?

When I filed for a K-1 for my fiancee, I remember having to attach all sorts of supplemental evidence to the I-134 (affidavit of support). One of those items was a letter from my employer stating how long I've worked there, my pay rate, etc... I was asked to submit my last 3 months bank statements as well.

Now that my fiancee is here, we are filing for AOS, and I'm having to fill out the I-864 - which to my understanding is an even more thorough and legally binding agreement. However, on the form, it appears to state that the only supplemental evidence one must submit is his or her tax return, and that things such as a letter from your employer are optional...

Does anyone know if this is correct? It seems kind of strange to me that it would be required the first time on a less intensive form, but not the second time around. So I guess my main question is: When applying for AOS with the I-864, is a letter from your employer (along with your last 3-6 bank statements, etc.), required like it is when when applying for the K-1 with the I-134?

(BTW, I realize that overdocumentation is generally better than underdocumentation, but really want to file the AOS packet on time before my fiancee's I-94 expires, and my employer can sometimes take several days to generate simple letters like this.) Any input/advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Similar evidence, however bank statements are only needed if you are using balance on account as an asset.

I-864 REQUIRES past years IRS return (2008) OR simple IRS transcript for 2008. Additional 2 years can be added to help (2007,2006)

A letter from employer, and recent paystubs going back 6 months can also help.

If solo sponsor then consider I-864EZ, this form is for (Sponsoring one immigrant, NOT using assets, and Not using a joint sponsor)

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
