Agreed, I wouldn't let anyone but a doctor circumcise my kid.

How about this guy?

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

It never occurred to me to even consider having my kid circumsised and I am certainly not going to inflict that upon him now. If this is such a social taboo in the US though, to be uncircumsised, I might have to tell him to go live in the UK - unless he can find someone like Amby who bucks the social trends

It sure isn't an issue around here, least not as much as having your dogs hind "thumbs" clipped off or his tail. Ear piercing is more of an issue plus stabbing your face with all that hardware.

My understanding is that circumcision is done medically for cleanliness, a good dark warm place for mold to grow, and if the thing turns green, can fall off. In my case, was highly recommended it was done, but still my decision, and was fully covered by my health plan. Now if the doctor said, maybe, and would cost me $10,000.00 more, probably would have said, let it turn green and fall off, had enough bills with all those kids.

It's an interesting social comment spooky. In my travels I have only ever come across circumcision as a religious rite outside of the US. Here in the US it seems to be more of a cultural phenomena which I personally find peculiar. Why is it such a big thing here? What gives?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Girls here don't like uncircumcised penises.

ummmm...if you have mold growing on your #######, I think you have bigger problems than needing to be circumcised

Spooky they don't turn me off. I don't even understand why women care either way.
