I think it'll be alot more hygeinic to circumcise. Don't get me wrong, but, after you urinate the forskin return to the tip and kind of absorb the urine. It makes it very uncomfortable.

I can think of nothing more non sanitary than cutting the foreskin off so that the ####### is exposed to a diaper full of pee and poop while at the same time having an open wound there that needs time to heal. This is probably why newborns have the skin attached to their ####### and then over time is unglues itself until the point that it can be open or closed like an adult.

Having used public bathrooms in malls, I'm glad I have a skin that covers everything. Some of those toilets are nasty.

Comfort is better for men and women with non-circumcised. For men, the obvious answer is that they're more sensitive there. Ask any guy who isn't cut to walk around with foreskin retracted inside their underwear. They'd fall to the floor from the sensitivity. For the woman it helps during sex because the skin sits outside behind the mushroom head and seals the outside of the #######. This helps keep moisture inside the woman during sex rather than pulling it out with the motions.

Circumcision in Canada is waaaaay less common than in the US. Doctors have been pushing against it since the 1970's. It's still done but only if the parent asks for it. And they have to pay for it out of pocket.

As far as mold issues......there is a certain balance between wet and dry that keeps bacteria to a minimum. If you're too dry (likelier with cut males), you can attract bacteria. Ever notice that your breath is the worst in the morning when your mouth is the driest? That's because saliva in your mouth keeps bacteria away. You brushed your teeth before bed. You haven't eaten anything. But your morning breath is bad. Coffee drinkers can get bad breath because coffee dries the mouth out. People who eat spicy food rarely have bad breath because their saliva glands are in overdrive. Women's private areas need to have a certain amount of moisture as well. Too dry is not good.

Now it can go the other way where you have too much moisture. Then you can get bacteria build up as well. If you haven't bathed in a week, chances are your genitals will have lots of moisture in them. But as is the way we are naturally, it's a good system. You pull it back. You wash it. It goes back by itself and strikes a perfect balance.

Cutting off the foreskin for cleanliness is akin to cutting off your arms so that you don't have to deal with dirty armpits.

I've never understood the "to be like the father" or "so other kids won't bug them" arguments. How many of us actually hang around naked with our dads and friends? If kids want to be like their fathers, should they get tattoos at birth as well if their dad has lots of tattoos?

Lastly, circumcised guys need to use some sort of lube when they're getting some self love on. Non cut guys don't need any. The skin slides up and down the shaft just fine without anything. Circumcision has been done for centuries as way to try to prevent people from masturbating.

Since when? My fiance is circumcised and no lube is needed there.

I know.... #######... now I unwillingly know who on VJ is cut and who isn't :dead:

At least this thread doesn't have an accompanying photo gallery.

Random memory sorta related to the topic: When I was in college, I dated a guy from Poland for about six months. It was my first foreskin experience. He'd moved to the States as a teenager and had a heavy Polish accent, plus a slight stutter. Apparently I provided his first BJ. His feedback: "Wow. That's very s-s-s-s-stimulating." God love him.

Male Circumcision and Risk for HIV Transmission

Several types of research have documented that male circumcision significantly reduces the risk of HIV acquisition by men during penile-vaginal sex.

International Observational Studies

A systematic review and meta-analysis that focused on male circumcision and heterosexual transmission of HIV in Africa was published in 2000 [5]. It included 19 cross-sectional studies, 5 case-control studies, 3 cohort studies, and 1 partner study. A substantial protective effect of male circumcision on risk for HIV infection was noted, along with a reduced risk for genital ulcer disease. After adjustment for confounding factors in the population-based studies, the relative risk for HIV infection was 44% lower in circumcised men. The strongest association was seen in men at high risk, such as patients at sexually transmitted disease (STD) clinics, for whom the adjusted relative risk was 71% lower for circumcised men.

What a bunch of #######!! perfect example of how you can prove whatever with statistics. Please, show me the theory of how cutting a part of a man's ####### will prevent infection with or replication of the retrovirus. I guess the prepuce has some weird role in the virus cycle that we are unaware of! Let's circumcise all men and we can forget about condoms!

This is most likely linked to differences if lifestyles/ sexual habits, and the sample chosen for the study.

Think about this: lost of sensitivity due to circumcision affects some men more than others. Some men cannot use condoms because with the lost of sensitivity, they have trouble holding an erection if they use one. Prevent aids: make sure your son will be able to wear a condom!

Caro

Routine circumcision is usually performed during the first 10 days (often within the first 48 hours), either in the hospital or, for some religious ritual circumcisions, at home. If you decide to have your son circumcised at the hospital, your pediatrician, family doctor, or obstetrician will perform the procedure before you bring your baby home. The doctor should prepare you by telling you about the procedure he or she will use and the possible risks. Circumcision after the newborn period can be a more complicated procedure and usually requires general anesthesia.

circumcision in general should require general anaesthesia. I really don't understand how people can put their newborns into such a situation for non-medical reasons. It's disgusting that there are still doctors out there who perform this very painful procedure without using any form of anaesthesia, some even believe a newborn cannot feel pain.

I have worked as a pedi nurse in Germany where a lot of muslims checked in with a medical referral (from their moslim pediatrician) and had the procedure done when their kids where about 1 year old under general aneaesthesia and a 2-day hospital stay. I don't condone religious circumcision much, but at least proper pain management was provided. Circumcision on a newborn is barbaric.

general anesthesia is quite dangerous on normal circumstances, even more on a 2-3 day newborn.. is not that newborns don't feel pain, but there's not per-se a braing description of 'pain'.. plus the cut itself on a newborn is a tiny incision (with that circular scissor tool they use)...

my son had it when he was a newborn, I unfortunately had it in my early 20's (in Mexico circumcision is fairly common too, and that 'get over it' is BS, it's a big male taboo).. and after a week of moderate pain, I wish I had it done when I was born too.. it's way better than uncircumcised..

My birthing teacher was present when they circumcised her first boy. They strapped him down, and before cutting they have to separate the gland from the prepuce with a razor. They boy was in obvious severe pain. Needless to say, her second was uncut.

Caro
