OK I see a need for it being done based on religious grounds or serious health concerns but for anything else what's the point? The foreskin is there to protect the glans of the ####### and to heighten sensitivity during sex. Well my missus certainly has no complaints about mine. ;)

I always thought you were a chick.

I can't believe this tread is still going --after a similar one not along ago.

Amby - thanks for explaining to these cut men how it works.

And Texanadian - liked your post also.

One concern is an uncut man learning how to use a condom. I had an uncut boyfriend years ago and he couldn't get a condom on - the foreskin was in the way. Others learned to work with what God gave them.

My cousin's son was circumcised at birth and has had problem with his ####### since. Now at 4 years old, they need to do a corrective surgery. Ouch!

Girls here don't like uncircumcised penises.

I'm American and I've never slept with a man who has a circumcised ####### (and yes, I've slept with Americans too!) My two little brothers (19 and 16 years old now) aren't circumcised either. I remember when my little brother was about 5 or 6 he was slightly embarrassed to take baths at his friends houses because he looked different than his friends...but my parents explained to him about it and he wasn't embarrassed anymore (originally he just didn't understand why he looked different). And now he wouldn't change it if he could (we've talked about it). I have no problem with uncircumcised penises and I think that circumcised ones look weird (but then again, a lot of other girls think uncircumcised ones look weird).

I wouldn't even consider getting my sons circumcised. Back in the day it was more hygienic, but nowadays as long as the man takes a shower and cleans himself, then it makes no difference.

I'm amazed this thread is still going too  . And to think it was only started because of the kaffufle on the prayer thread. I guess it's a topic that really holds VJers interest.

As to what's the point... well other than my initial remarks about reduced HIV infections, I haven't seen anyone else address that potentially important benefit of circumcision throughout this entire thread.

Here's some more from the excellent CDC webpage regarding this subject.

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/factsheets/circumcision.htm

Male circumcision has been associated with a lower risk for HIV infection in international observational studies and in three randomized controlled clinical trials. It is possible, but not yet adequately assessed, that male circumcision could reduce male-to-female transmission of HIV, although probably to a lesser extent than female-to-male transmission. Male circumcision has also been associated with a number of other health benefits. Although there are risks to male circumcision, serious complications are rare. Accordingly, male circumcision, together with other prevention interventions, could play an important role in HIV prevention in settings similar to those of the clinical trials [41, 42].

Male circumcision may also have a role in the prevention of HIV transmission in the United States. CDC consulted with external experts in April 2007 to receive input on the potential value, risks, and feasibility of circumcision as an HIV prevention intervention in the United States and to discuss considerations for the possible development of guidelines.

As CDC proceeds with the development of public health recommendations for the United States, individual men may wish to consider circumcision as an additional HIV prevention measure, but they must recognize that circumcision 1) does carry risks and costs that must be considered in addition to potential benefits; 2) has only proven effective in reducing the risk of infection through insertive vaginal sex; and 3) confers only partial protection and should be considered only in conjunction with other proven prevention measures (abstinence, mutual monogamy, reduced number of sex partners, and correct and consistent condom use).
