I guess tattoos aren't liked in the Philippines. My fiancee was called back today for a pyschiatric evaulation because of a tattoo around her ankle. I'm waiting now for her call but is this a legitimate reason to fail the medical examination? Are people with tattoos seen as mentally deranged there? Any others that have had similar experiences please let me know how it turned out for you.

Thanks!

I have a tattoo on my shoulder(not the pic of my avatar lol) but I was not called back for a pyschiatric evaluation during my medical at st. luke. I guess it depends on the doctor who made the evaluation and the answer of the patient when question about it.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. Grace didn't say and I didn't ask about her body art. We've all experienced youthful indiscretions haven't we? hehe All I know is what is in her heart and soul. It's what I want! Hopefully the 9am call will be just fine based on these comments.

Best wishes,

Grace & Steven

LOL!! #######- are you serious? A Tattoo is a youthful indiscretion? That is the funniest thing I have read in ages!

so what is some youthful indiscretions? :pop::P

I don't care for tattoos either but I still love my fiancee. Her tattoo is not that big. It's simply a ankle bracelet design which she got when she was much younger. I just spoke with her and the pyschiatrist wouldn't tell here anything after the sesson except to call back tomorrow morning at 9am. Her interview at the embassy is next Tuesday. She lives in Cavite so assuming she passes her medical she'll have to return for the 4th time to Manilla for her immunizations and then of course again next Tuesday. We're both kind of dazed by this turn of events. How can a tattoo reflect on one's mental stability? If it were that bad then millions of people all over the world would be in mental institutions. :)

Good luck to all!

The tatoo fad hasn't quite caught on there like here in the states. Mostly what you'll see on guys are just homemade tattoos. On a girl, it probably translates to; gang member/criminal, drug user or bar girl. They are just sizing her up. If your girl is non of these, don't worry about it.

although you can see a lot of tats in phil, its still not "wildly" acceptable especially for some company. my brother wanted to apply at Del Monte (food produce like pineapple and fruit cocktail same here in the US) yet he's not allowed coz of his tattoo on his back which is not visible and its only like a 2x2 circle... sad to say its how the way it is... even in some dept store in my city, they wont hire somebody whose got a tattoo even if its just a single dot (no kidding)... though im guessing your fiancee would be just fine... just another SOP that doesnt make sense at all but perhaps in phil, it makes a difference...

she'll be ok. though the P1000 extra really sucks...

during the medical exam, the doc asked me if my eyeliner was a tattoo. i said no, its just an eyeliner pencil. the doc just noted it down and everything went ok. so dont worry.

I have met one girl on my medical examination at SLEC and the girl got a tatoo on her lower back but she did not went under Psychiatric Evaluation. I guess it is depends on the Doctor...

You and Fiance will be fine....after all, too bad for the extra unnecessary fee.

Tattoo lovers, just be careful especially when you dealing with immigration, tattoo raises a flag.

Why?

Some tattoo....... ( i said some !!! not everyone, so please do not twist my words around) are gangs related affiliation.

So if you plan to migrate somewhere, do not get one, so you will not get the extra scrutiny.

Tattoos is not really accepted in the Philippines, but no one can stop someone from having it.. I personally dont like tattoos, my main reason is I will not be able to donate blood. but as far as psychiatric evaluation, I dont think having tattoos will goes that far.

They prefer you wait a year before giving blood after a tattoo, but it does NOT mean you can't donate blood after that. Wherever did you get that information?
