Tattoo?

I guess tattoos aren't liked in the Philippines. My fiancee was called back today for a pyschiatric evaulation because of a tattoo around her ankle. I'm waiting now for her call but is this a legitimate reason to fail the medical examination? Are people with tattoos seen as mentally deranged there? Any others that have had similar experiences please let me know how it turned out for you.

Thanks!

Tattoos is not really accepted in the Philippines, but no one can stop someone from having it.. I personally dont like tattoos, my main reason is I will not be able to donate blood. but as far as psychiatric evaluation, I dont think having tattoos will goes that far.

I don't care for tattoos either but I still love my fiancee. Her tattoo is not that big. It's simply a ankle bracelet design which she got when she was much younger. I just spoke with her and the pyschiatrist wouldn't tell here anything after the sesson except to call back tomorrow morning at 9am. Her interview at the embassy is next Tuesday. She lives in Cavite so assuming she passes her medical she'll have to return for the 4th time to Manilla for her immunizations and then of course again next Tuesday. We're both kind of dazed by this turn of events. How can a tattoo reflect on one's mental stability? If it were that bad then millions of people all over the world would be in mental institutions. :)

Good luck to all!

My friend once applied for a big company here..and he took a Medical Exam (Job requirement)..and he undergone psychiatric evalution...he got a tattoo on her ankle too...and the name of his exgf is written there....

they just ask why did he have the tattoo? and why did he put his exgf's name?(because of LOVE obviously) Does he have other tattoos? just wanted to know the reason behind the tattoo? That's it!

They just sometimes make it complicated even tattoos is not really a big deal.. Well just hope for the best..

I am just really glad I did not process my visa in the Philippines whenever i read post like this..

I am just amazed on the process as even the passport needed to be notarized for CRBA process.. I did everything in the Middle East and processed my kids passport and I never encountered any process like this here.. I guess they made it difficult there because of huge amount of american-filipino relationship..

Why people cant just be happy and live with it???

That is utterly the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of in my life!! I have been to the Philippines many times and there are tattoo shops all over the place. I wouldn't worry to much about it Steve. I'm sure everything will be fine but that is absolutely absurd!! Good luck and I hope this doesnt slow down your process. They are good at that. Take care. The person employed at center has nothing better to do.....or really had a bad day...and was in a really bad mood..

These are usually the reason for evaluation taken from immigration web site;

*Mental retardation; insanity; previous attack of insanity;psychopathic personality, sexual deviation or mental defect;

narcotic drug addition; and chronic alcoholism.

I really do not see how a tattoo fits any of the definition above...

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. Grace didn't say and I didn't ask about her body art. We've all experienced youthful indiscretions haven't we? hehe All I know is what is in her heart and soul. It's what I want! Hopefully the 9am call will be just fine based on these comments.

Best wishes,

Grace & Steven

Oh, and the other thing I forgot to mention--to add insult to injury SLEC charged Grace an additional 1000 php for her pyschiatric evaluation. Priceless. We'll know in a few hours the results. Just had to get that off my chest.

Best wishes to all!
