If you can get an EAD stamp at POE it is valid for 90 days but remember that you will have to apply for a SSN and that can take 2 weeks or more to come.... if you have not received your 1 years EAD

(that you can apply for at the same time as your AOS) at the end of the 90 days you will have to stop work until you do have the 1 years EAD...

Hope this helps

Kezzie

You may get lucky and get temporary EAD (good for 90 days) at POE. JFK has been known to issue them.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail

Thats the first thing im going to do when we move over. Get my SSN. I will find out from the immigration people what the situation is regarding working. My problem is if i get a temp EAD valid for 90 days what happens if i dont receive my 1 year EAD within the 90 days. I would be illegal then!!

My fiance has already 3 interviews lined a few days after we arrive in the states. I just want to help as much as i can as we are leaving a very secure stable up bringing in reland to move to the states.

We will be moving to MA as soon as we get married. Im in the IT sector so hopefully i can get a job around boston in an IT support role.Anyone know what the situation with IT jobs in MA.

If your objective is to get 1-yr EAD as soon as possible, then you may want to consider having a civil wedding at the courthouse sooner than April. And then file AOS/EAD/AP right away. And of course still have the big wedding on your planned date.

I think JFK is the only POE offering a temporary EAD. Claudeth's took about 75 days after we filed. Good luck

Thank you. I will check with the vermont service center and see how long it takes them to issue the EAD.

galwayman,

Don't bother. The regional Service Centers don't process I-765, not for K-visa people anyway.
