Here is the thread where the USC and his fiancee was able to meet up with the CO and plead their case to the CO. He did it a couple of times and finally he was successful. I think his name is Jeff and you might want to PM him for more advice on how to meet the CO.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...=179555&hl=

Also his review of the consulate:

By Jeff:

Well, the Co who interviewed both of us was very courteous and kind. I feel that our interview was fair and just.

http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Vietnam

his review is on the bottom.

Your case seems as strong as most as far as relationship evidence goes. I take it she did the interview in Vietnamese. It seems suspicious that he kept asking her the same questions over again, do you think there was a problem with the translater? I am guessing that the timeline will clear up any questions the CO has, especially if there was a pink sheet ready to go. We had to have a translater for me for our marriage license interview and he worded questions differently than the interviewer did for my wife so of course our answers did not match, thus my suspicion of translater problems. Keep positive, I agree with the others, PINK is just a timeline away for you two. I admire the VN. gals, we had the easy part doing paperwork while they have their feet to the interview fire and a little setback like this will not slow em down!! Good Luck to you two, get that timeline in and get the PINK you deserve!!!

When my wife was interview they asked her some of the same questions twice but just worded differently. My wife thinks that they do that to see if the beneficiary will change the answer or react differently to it. She saw that a lot with other people interviewing and those people received blue/green. The translator for my wife was kind of rude to my wife but the CO was nice, when my wife saw the translator was saying something wrong my wife would understand and correct her in english but kept on doing the interview in Vietnamese just to not have any misunderstandings.

That makes sense Dai, there are so many conspiracy theories for these interviews. In your case, wouldn't it have been better for your wife to do interview in English so she could communicate with CO directly? It sounds like her English is fairly good. My wife is going to do hers in English to eliminate the "middle man" and deal with the CO directly. Any thoughts anyone?

My wife's english is decent (some words are mispronounced) and she sometimes forgets the words sometimes, she sort of looks lost thinking of the words. She did not feel comfortable enough to do the whole interview in English because she was afraid of misunderstandings on her part mispronouncing some things. Lots of people did it in Vietnamese and they pass on the day she interviewed. I told her it was up to her to do it in English or Vietnamese but she decided to do Vietnamese. If your wife does it in Vietnamese I think some of the CO can understand Vietnamese and the communication might be understood better. Some people like my wife can understand English but has difficulty speaking it. I would imagine it would be the same for CO to hear Vietnamese everyday (since they do live in Vietnam) and pick it up but they have difficulty speaking it therefore having a need for a translator. I think their "middle man" is there to act tough and rude to try to get the beneficiary nervous so they can find out if they are lying or not. My wife also thinks it's a tactic they they use to find out fraud cases and genuine cases. She didn't get bothered by her middle man cause she was confident the whole time, which she tells me over and over again is the key to her success.

Oh yeah, that's just my case because my wife and I speak Vietnamese most of the time with each other. She barely speaks English in her daily life and I only speak english to her like 10% of the time. If in your case, you wife speaks english well, that might work for you better since it will show that you and your spouse share a common fluent language when you communicate with each other. I think it's just different for everyone. I think you can't go wrong either way if she is confident enough during the interview.

You are right Dai, whatever makes them more comfortable and confident is the way to go. The only advice I gave her was to ask for clarification if she was unsure about a question, not to assume anything. I told her that if she needed to use the translater at times, to do so. I don't think they would hold that against her, at least I hope not. This relates back to Dans (Mr Leggs) case and if there was a communication problem. I hope we all learn more about the cause of their setback although it appears to be something minor if pink sheet was ready to go. We only have 10 days to go so I am nervous and want to be as prepared as possible. All of this information that everyone shares so openly is a blessing-Thanks to all!!

IMO, I think the CO is a-whole, keep pushing her with the question about miscarriage. That's her weakness topic to go over and over again. I just don’t like that CO. Mr. Leggs. I am sure your wife will get her pink slip after you submit your timeline.

Good luck. May God be with both of you.

Hien was prepared to do the interview in either language. I told her that if given a choice, do it in English to speak directly to the CO. But I had heard that sometimes they do not give them the choice and will speak in VN. As it turned out, they did not ask her if she spoke English and did not speak with her in English at all. They went straight to VN and stayed there. She switched to answering in English halfway through because it was easier but they kept asking the questions in VN, even though they could understand her answers perfectly well.

By the way, do not be fooled about the language capabilities of the COs. Hien said that the American CO guy could understand and speak VN perfectly. he was nodding his head as she answered in VN before the translator gave him the English answer. Also spoke to her in VN at the end and she said his VN was VERY good.

Be prepared and submit a timeline before the interview if possible. If not, bring a detailed timeline to the interview.
