Other than making a phonecall to the Embassy, is there a way to determine if one's DS-230 Part 1 and checklist have been received (in my case, at the Montreal Consulate)? My fiance and I never used the USCIS website for the first phase of this adventure to track our progress as it all went through so fast. Does the information on the USCIS website carry through right to the end of the visa approval? If so, can someone give me specific instructions on how to use it. I went into it but didn't find it intuitive. Maybe I went to the wrong spot.

A million thanks for any tips sent my way!

Jo,

Think about this for a minute.

Once the USCIS has approved the petition they are done with it (unless the DoS sends it back to them for reconsideration.)

OK point taken (but it's still the U.S. government involved). Do you know the answer to my question; i.e., how can I track the next leg of this journey? I see that members post that their DS-230/checklist is rec'd and I wonder how they know that.

Jo,

Do you have any appreciation for how large the US government is? Consider your own employer, which is much smaller - would you call Accounting to track the approval of your vacation request?

Most likely people know when their DS-230 and checklist were received by contacting the consulate and asking. I know that's what I did.

I called the US consulate in Montreal to check if they received our DS-230 and checklist for our K-3 application. Call between 2 & 4 PM... preferably a minute before 2:00 EST. If you can't give them a call, try sending them an email.

Good luck!
