I presume in the end she marries for love not immigration - that's how Hollywood works, right? :D

Well, two other movies with the immigration theme are Kolya and Green Card.

It doesn't bother me. Especially considering the number of people who do NOT understand the immigration process. Heck, I didn't understand it until it became a part of my life.

same here.. I didn't have the foggiest idea what was all involved with the immigration process before I was thrust into it..

i thought it would as easy as it was for my French friend who in 1992 got married and then a conditional green card from the INS the very next day. was very surprised to find this to no longer be the case in 2005!

I dont think it was all that easy in 1992 either.

i love sandra bullock. i can't wait to watch. there are several movies and tv show episodes where they show the unrealistic immigration process, where their visa expire tomorrow, but you marry today and it's all solved. It's funny. It makes me laugh.

Oh thank you so much for mentioning these movies - I watched Green Card and I cried like a baby at the end - it was great, and it reminds me of how I feel every time I have to leave my husband. Why does our country put us through this hell is what I want to ask. Inshallah one day it will be different. Salaams.
