In case you haven't figured it out yet, I am the ummie (mommy) to one very large, very squishy, very meowy kitty. I had a cat when I was very little, but nothing other then a bird and a few rodents for most of my childhood. I had planned on adopting a kitty once AbuS arrived, but circumstances kept putting it off.

Finally, after much harrassment on my part, AbuS relented. Early one snowy morning in December 2008, I trekked to the local humane society. "Mitze" was the second cat I looked at, and she stole my heart right from the get go. She was outgoing, friendly and very cuddly. I put a hold on her and promised to bring AbuS back the next day to meet her. Alas, the next morning, it was snowing up a storm. AbuS absolutely refused to go out. I begged and pleaded and finally he caved. Alhamdulilah he did, because Mitzie stole his heart as well.

When we brought her home, we could not agree on a name, so she was simply "Kitty" for the first few weeks. I eventually got frustrated and unilaterally named her Squeaky. She's talkative and when she jumps out of your arms, she makes a little squeak as she hits the floor.

AbuS had a bit of trouble adjusting to her. She is a very very vocal kitty. AbuS had cats when he was young, but they were apparently all quiet kitties. She would frequently wake us up at night.

Alhamdulilah though, she eventually quieted down and has AbuS wrapped around her little paws. He still is not a big fan of how much I spend on her. She's one spoiled kitty and she'd be even more spoiled if he wasn't putting his foot down on the budget.

Overall, after a rough start, we're doing well as a family now. Like our relationship, it took it's time to hit it's stride, but now AbuS's face lights up whenever she runs to him and my heart goes pitty pat when she meets me at the door after work.

First Day home - I love her kitty tocks:

This as a few know is Lemons. She is a blonde lab, with a large attitude who thinks she is human. Sleeps in her own bed when not hogging mine, drinks coffee, and thinks its mandatory to have ice cream twice a week. Has a large collection of stuffed teddy bears, and does not pick up after herself when teddies are out on the lawn all lined up like a morgue or something. Very creepy looking.

But would not trade her for anything in the world, she is my child.

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

Hachemi loves cats. His family had a cat in Algeria. He adores our cats that we have now. We really get attached to the kitties we foster, but we cant keep everyone.

This is Bella. She is one of a litter of rescue kitties I am fostering. We have decided to keep Bella. She is the sweetest kitten I have ever seen.

Here is a pic of all the kitties. They love to sleep in this chair.

This is Berry. (my 5 year old granddaughter named him) We adopted him from the last litter of kitties I fostered. He is a great cat.

Berry the box cat. He loves to sleep in any box he can find.

Yeah!!!!!

 the MENA pet party

How exciting!!! Here are my kitty cats.

This is Girl cat, she's about 10-11 years old. Still as feisty as she can be. She's super pretty cat too, really just a beautiful, although you can't tell from this evil "get outa my face before I scratch you" look. She can be a down right evil little thing when she wants to be, but she has her moments. She likes to be pet....sometimes, but only on her terms. If you don't do it the way she likes...BITE!!! She likes to let everyone know who's boss too, especially my other cat who is about twice her size! Honestly when it comes down to it, she's just pyschotic but I still love her.

0906080011.jpg

This is my sweetheart, Boy cat. I think he's around 9ish. He's super cuddley and super friendly. All he wants is love and well, food. Got the belly to prove it. He always tell's me how he's starving and no one EVER him and well, I fall for it everytime 'cause he just so darn sweet!!! He's a chatter box too, always got something to say. When ever I talk to him, he always answers, of course I don't know what he's saying, since I don't speak cat. My son through the years has done typical kids things like trying to pick him up or brushing his fur (the wrong way) and he just takes it. He's my bedtime buddy since Ahmed isn't here. I just (L) him!!

Everytime I try to load up a picture on here, it says its too big. I will have to find another way to put a picture of my kitties. Candy is 3yrs old 9lbs and SO girly! Alex is 1yr old 18lbs and such a tiger!!! I need advice on what exactly would be the best thing to do considering we are moving to Texas in 7 weeks and thats a 12 hour drive. Not sure if we are doing a stop over in Baton Rouge with my brothers or not... but with 2 cats that MEOW so loud and freak out by going to the vet which is 10minutes away... I wonder what to do with the kitties for the trip??? Get a huge pet taxi and put it in the back seat for both of them to stay in? No food no water? I hope they dont hate me for doing that though! ? Any ideas???

Ask your veterinarian. He/she may be able to give you a light tranquilizer for them so they will be nice and stoned for the trip. ;-)

I love seeing the kitties here. They are so cute! Unfortunately, I don't have any pets, but I enjoy seeing everyone else's.

Tamara, I would love to see your kittys!! I just love cats! :luv:

I agree with Pandora, I think you should talk to your vet about what you can do. My boy cat does the same loud meowing thing too, going to the vet. Once he freaked so bad, he almost lost his voice....seriously! So like she said, perhaps a lite tranquilizer would be helpful. Let us know what they say, since I expect that Ahmed and I will be moving some day in the future (he says he can't deal with Minnesota cold :D ) and of course my cats WILL be coming, even evil :girlwerewolf2xn: girl cat.

What adorable kittehs *huggles them all* and cute puppies too :)

Squeaky is addicted to da bird. It's seriously kitty crack. No matter where I am, she'll come and wack my leg, look at me with pleading eyes and then turn around, run at top speed to the closet where I keep it and meow until I get it out. She's only had it for 2 weeks and she's already torn one feather off. Good thing they sell refills.

She didn't much care for the other feather on a string toys she's had in the past, so I'm happy to see she enjoys this one. For a fat cat (she's 12 lbs), she gets some serious air time.

Here's my pudge-a-licious kitty playing with her kong kickaroo. She's not as anamoured with this toy

I love pets, I've always had a few... For now we have 6 cats and a rat. Meriem I admire your abiblity to foster kitties and them give them away - my attempts at fostering and hand raising just led to having more and more cats. After I have raised them up I just cant bring myself to hand them off to anyone else. :P I wouldnt mind having a dog again but I think thats the point at which my husband would leave me (he already complains about living in a zoo) so I'll have to think about the dog

I would be lost without her.

bumpin for more pet talk!

Squeaky is still the (feline) love of my life. I swear, every day I love that kitty more and more. Except when it's 3 am and she decides it's time to bag box (ie punch the stuffing out of the bag filled with paper for recycling). She's a chunky little monkey, but AbuS won't let me call her my big fat kitty. He says it's mean

100_2006.jpg

Since we're limited to a single cat by apartment regulations, I'm inshaAllah going to start volunteering at a local no kill shelter. It will also get me out of the house, so AbuS and I have less opportunity to get on each other's nerves
