I didn't give the name because I am not sure it is against VJ's TOS. If not, I will gladly share...if so, PM me and I will give it there. Or at least the name of the attny. You can google his website and look on his forums.

-Blu-(Lemme know)

If you give the name, RebeccaJo will probably have the post removed and you will get a TOS warning. You are probably getting close now, as am I, judging from the number of ignored posts I am seeing from her. She really hates people exposing attorneys as the frauds they are, even when they recommend fraud themselves.

So, I used to frequent a website of an "Immigration Lawyer" initials, R.G. His website hardly generates any answers so I moved on...and found VJ.

Anyway, I decided to check it out today...curious if it ever picked up any kind of flow. Someone on there asked him if he should go K1 or K3 to be with his fiance as soon as possible. The LAWYER answered that he recommends the guy to bring his fiance here on a visit and marry her, then file an AOS. #######? I mean, I know it is possible (though not legal), but the risk of a 5 yr+ ban is too great! How irresponsible is this guy?

-Blu-(outraged for the inquirer)

Doesn't surprise me. Attorneys are interested in $$$$ He will gladly represent the person he gave the advice to and collect his money and do nothing. He typically has to spend a few minutes reveiwing what his secretary did for a K-1 for only a couple thousand.

Immigration lawyers for the most part are like tapeworms.

Thats not really ture Many good Attorneys who know what to do the right way, and have fair fees.. You have to look around you can find them. Did you have a immigration lawer?

No I did not. I will not pay lots of money to have a lawyer's secretary fill in simple forms with information I provide. What do you call a fair fee for a secretary filling out an I-129f and G-325 (with information already provided to them by the petitioner) and putting the documents the petitioner provides in an envelope and mailing it? $25? $50 tops? Don't forget you still need to run around and gather all the information and documents for them, THEY don't have it. It isn't even a "legal process". The forms are no more complicated than a job application to Lowe's or Walmart. You need an attorney for that?

I would recommend a visa service if you need a professional, they usually have translators and people to communicate with your fiancee in his/her language. At least they are equipped to provide service.

So when you say “No I Did Not” how can you say anything with out the first hand knowledge, experience or the use of an attorney?

There are attorney who handle the case fill out every form and so on…Your basing this off ignorance. Your whole post sounds ignorant. And yes it is a legal process in all the states, if the attorney is License, un-like a visa service who has no license and even they wont do it for 25-50 bucks.

As for “The forms are no more complicated than a job application to Lowe's or Walmart.” If that’s so true then tell me why so many people come to this website ask simple questions and can’t fill them out???? Your comment is a bunch of ignorant BS and a slap in every ones face who can’t fill out the forms. SHEEEESH

So you paid an attorney, have second thoughts because now you found this site and instead of saying "I messed up big time because of my ignorance at the time" you try to justify your decision by criticzing others who help people for free? How is that for an assumption?

YOUR assumption is exactly NOT correct. It was a loaded a question and you thought you could win either way I answered. Another bad assumption. MY choice to do it myself was an informed decision after studying the process, meeting with several lawyers and discussing exactly WHAT it is they do for $1800-3000 PLUS more for AOS. It is IN NO WAY a decision based in ignorance. Before I made the decision, I was fully informed of the process, from this site and other sources. I knew, from my study and understanding that I did not need an attorney and really couldn't find a reason anyone would. My opinion is based in knowledge of the subject, successful experience in completing the K-1 process (and two K-2s, one "to follow") and never receiving an RFE or even so much as a single question at an interview. Petition approval in 58 days, GC in less than 2 months. SSN 16 hours after fiancees arrival. That is based in ignorance?

The decision TO use a lawyer is usually based in ignorance of the process which is why you see so many posts here of members regretting hiring an attorney and almost NONE saying they are glad they did.

Sir, yes, an attorney's secretary fills out every form. That would be the I-129f and G-325a. TWO forms. There ARE no other forms for the I-129f petition. Your fiancee will have others, and sometimes and attorneys secretary fills those in also, again only with information your fiancee provides. Same with the I-134. An Attorney canno possibly fill that in, his secretary can type it for you if you tell her what to type. It is absolutely NOT possible for an attorney (unless the attorney is your MOTHER) to fill out the forms without you providing a completed survey OR sitting at the secretary's desk while she fills in the forms. NOT POSSIBLE. IMPOSSIBLE. It is NOT POSSIBLE the attorney has all the documents you need to submit. IMPOSSIBLE.

It is NOT POSSIBLE for an attorney to do this faster than you can do it yourself. It is NOT POSSIBLE for an attorney to speed up the process for a normal case. You file the forms and wait like everyone else.

After studying the process for several months before filing the petition, meeting with attorneys, asking them tough questions and getting a pack of lies in response ("I can speed up the process, look at USCIS timelines vs. mine" "Oh, you need an attorney, USCIS considers all these cases frauds and will just delay your case for years if you do not have an attorney" of "too bad you just didn't marry a girl from Montreal, she could come and you could get married when she was visiting") Yeah, great advice.

People pay H&R block to fill out 1040EZs Must I explain that also? I try to help people who have questions so they do not need an attorney to charge them lots of money, that IS the purpose of this site in case you haven't noticed and one of the reasons I try to contribute as much as I do. I do not think I slap anyone in the face by helping them avoid the need for an attorney. I hope, instead, each answer is a slap in the wallet of some immigration attorney somewhere so the couple can use the money they save for their family.

Yor statement that it "is a legal process in all the states" is not correct. It is a federal process, no state would have any say over it, no state government is involved in it. It is not a process requiring the use of a lisenced attorney for assistance. Visa services can assist people without being lisenced. There is no "lisence" for immigration attorney's, they are lisenced attorneys, not lisenced "immigration attorneys" it is a specialty they choose to pursue.

Here's my take on hiring an attny. In my opinion there should only be 2 reasons for the need to hire one. 1) You don't feel you have the time and/or understanding of the simple forms to do it yourself, or the ability to inquire on doing it yourself, or 2) your K1 is more complicated than it is for most people, ie, a previous ban, criminal issues, constant denials.

Other than that, and this is just my opinion from all the research I have personally done, there is no reason a reasonable adult cannot do this themselves.
