DCF Receipt Number?

Hey Gang,

I did DCF Delhi about a month ago. After filing, the sweet lady told me that my spouse would get her packet within a month (hence I thought we would have a case number within 3 weeks). I called up NVC in the US, and they said my case is still not on the computer! =(

NVC said when done overseas, you should just talk to the Embassy overseas because they may handle it differently. Is that true?

When you do DCF (at least in Delhi), the only receipt they provide is a photocopy of the I-130, the Demand Draft, and a Red Stamp "Received". There is no case number. Is this normal? Am I overreacting that I have no case number after one month, even after the guidance of the lady at Delhi?

NVC in the USA is not involved when an I-130 is filed for an immigrant visa overseas, they will not have anything to tell you.

NVC only handles cases that come to them from USCIS service centers in the USA.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

But would they not know if information is uploaded in the computers? I would imagine the Networks are centralized at that point...

NO, NVC only handles cases transiting from USCIS to the consulate.

A different department DOS visa services may have information.

Thanks YuAndDan,

202-663-1225 is the number I called today and they are the ones that said spouse's name not in computer yet (and that overseas Embassy may handle things differently).

The wait is painful....feel like moving to another country! Any large english speaking countries where my wife and I can go to and live happily ASAP!? ;)

The US NVC? government institutions have nothing to do with DCF files cases. As you were told, every embassy is different, but I never got a receipt number or NOA, just the package.

Bye: Penguin

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

GQBabson...I also went to file DCF in NDelhi in Mid May '09 and still have NOT heard anything. My hubby went to the Mumbai embassy 3x so far w/o any info. Finally yesterday he gave a copies that we got from the "sweet lady" in NDelhi and they are supposed to get back to him. He has been trying to contact the NDelhi Consulate; either no one bloody picks up the phone, or sents a generated e-mail. Yes...this is rather frustrating b/c we were told that it may take up to 30 days to receive the packet in the mail...I think our packet is on someone's desk w/ ur packet...

One of our acquaintances got his packet w/in 3 weeks, and is now waiting for the interview date. But his embassy is through Chennai, so that probably makes a difference...

What to do other than wait?

Embassy said they shipped out my Packet 3 on June 17, but I still have not received it! Is it normal to take this long? Embassy did send me scanned image of Applicant's Statement and DS-203 and my case number, and said I scan and mail that back. I did that, and they confirmed it was received and it has been forwarded.

Thats a long time though for mail in India!

Any thoughts?
