OK, so we've been living together in Istanbul for 6 months now and want to start the DCF process since I've been told it's the fastest. My husband is from Iran so we shouldn't have to submit a police report for him as it isn't required for Iranians.

So do I only have to submit the I-130, I-864 and DS-230 or is there something else?

I-130 and 2 G-325A forms along with the required evidence is filed at the US consulate having jurisdiction over your residence.

Follow this guide for preparing the I-130, and submit to consulate, NOT the PO BOX in Chicago.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide1

The rest DS-230, I-864 comes later for visa interview.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

They may put you through Ankara - Ankara Embassy

Seems most visa applications are pushed there.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

It says you should include a receipt of payment for the processing of the I-130 forms so I sent an email asking if I could pay for it with card at the consulate in Istanbul. They emailed me back saying I just pay for it later at the interview in Ankara. So now I'm confused and wondering if I was given the correct information.

Just curious, why don't Iranians need a police report?

Because everyone in Iran except the drug smugglers have police reports. If you want to smuggle heroin across the border into Iran the police will just take a bribe off of you and let you go. Whereas if you are a girl and the wind blows your headscarf back or you're a guy with too much hair gel you will be arrested and fined and have a police record. I think Iranians are the only ones that don't have to provide a police cert. I think immigration officers just got fed up with sifting through so many idiotic police reports that they quit requiring it. I know an Iranian that was arrested once for having a big belt buckle and another time for the ghastly crime of buying a girl he wasn't related to an ice cream cone while standing in line at a kiosk at an amusement park.

Ok, I see the Guide says, " Use a personal check if allowed by the Service Center. If not, use a money order so you can track the payment." I will call the embassy to find out if it is ok to mail a check and to which address and let everyone know. Has anyone mailed a personal check as payment to the embassy abroad and had problems? I would be worried about my packet being lost in the mail.

Oh, good grief. It is like pulling teeth to get a hold of a live person on the phone at the Consulates and Embassies. I did manage to find out that I can't send a personal check. It has to be a cashier's check from Fortis bank made out to the US Embassy. I will just mail the packet in and hope it doesn't disappear.
