My husband had his interview yesterday at Dhaka embassy, He was unable to get his visa because the people that cosponsored him did not have enough income. We were told we needed a new joint sponsor and need to bring a new I-864 and IRS certified tax transcript and deposit them any Thursday morning at the embassy. I wanted to know once we submit the documents how long does the process take? do they let u know the same day, do they call, email? also, as far as i know it takes about a month to get an irs certified transcript, Is there anyway to get that faster? Also, we were told we only need IRS certified copy for 2008. does this mean if the person does not have enough income for 2006 and 2007 but has enough income for 2008 it is ok? Also, our interview went well, the CO said all the papers look good, just need a new cosponsor, does this mean we are out of danger of AP? sorry for so many questions, but im really confused. Any help appreciated. Thank you in advance.

03/15/09-Paid I-864 Bill, Receive I-864 Package

03/16/09 -IV Bill generated

03/16/09- Received IV Bill

03/17/2009-Paid IV Bill

05/10/09- Returned Completed I-864

5/18/09- RFE received for DS230/ Sent response through DHL from PI

05/20-05/21/09- Early medical- passed

5/22/09- RFE received for AOS package (wooo..grr))

5/27/09- AOS response overnight to NVC

5/28/09- NVC received checklist (Ds230) as per AVR/ under REVIEW

6/02/09- I-1864 RFE was entered into the system- Review begins

6/05/09- NVC website log-in failed

06/08/09- case completed (per operator/US time) 6/9/09- PH time ..yeah! :-)

06/09/09- interview date assigned (through email)

07/28/09- Cr1 interview date (APPROVED)

07/30/09-Visa Received

08/07/09- US Entry : POE: LAX

08/08/09- Arrival to destination

08/20/09- Permanent card received

NVC never told your about the cosponsor?!?! I always thought they issue the RFE if the AOS doesn't meet the requirement.. no?

Why do they wait until the interview day to break the bad news?!!?

March 25, 2009- NOA2 (hardcopy Received)

April 3, 2009 - Case Number Assigned

June 5, 2009 CASE COMPLETED AT NVC

June 9, 2009 Interview Date Assigned

July 16, 2009 Interview AP

August 24, 2009 DOS Operator said "VISA HAS BEEN ISSUED TODAY" Alhamdulillah

August 26, 2009 call from embassy to PICK UP THE PASSPORT :-)

August 27, 2009 Picked up the passport... woohooo!!!

September 9, 2009 US Entry InshaAllah

October 13, 2009 SSN and green card in mail DONE WITH USCIS until husband applies for his citizenship!!

The journey of 4 years, 8 months, and 3 weeks has ended!!!

Oh! Maybe it's a mistake. I thought she meant only "tax transcript", I don't know how much it differ with a certified copy. Because ours only took a day. Then, maybe she is correct and you are.

Hi Sanam, sorry to hear about your situation. Cannot really comment how long it will take after you submit the papers, hopefully not too long. I'm not sure if "IRS certified" tax transcripts and tax transcripts from the IRS are the same thing.

It may be different in your case, but as far as I know, NVC never wanted original or certified copies for financial docs. So if the embassy is only seeking regular transcripts from the IRS, those can be attained in 15-20 minutes by fax. Just have to call the IRS hotline and speak to an agent, request them to fax you the transcripts. They will fax you the transcripts with an IRS coversheet, hopefully that's all the embassy requires. But if the embassy is requesting truly certified copies, then I'm not sure, would help if you can show us the website they gave you.

But I agree with a previous comment, why didn't the NVC catch this co-sponsor problem before interview?

Same thing happened to my uncle whose interview was at Bombay Embassy. He did not get visa because his daughter did not submit tax return information of co-sponsor.. I was quite surprised to hear that because I thought NVC did all the checking, including verifying that all I-864 applications are accompanied by tax returns or tax transcripts plus additional financial evidence..

Also, it depends on Embassy too. For instance, we got pass through NVC with just tax transcripts (vs. tax returns). But at interview time, my husband was asked for latest tax return papers. We had filed for extension for 2008 so embassy asked for extension copy as well as 2007 tax returns. It is still beyond my understanding why would they need my tax returns papers if they already have tax transcripts. In short, Embassy must have some check list that they go by and latest tax-return papers must be on that list.

Sorry Sanam, this probably isn't' helping you much. I just wanted to say it here so other people can hopefully watch out in future.

hey i got my transcripts last week in 5 minutes,

just go to local office and give the name and SSN and u can get those in 5 minutes

after u submit the papers it can take 6-8 weeks maximum but most u get the call before that

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg
