I do appologize if this question has posted, i have seen something before but cant find it.

Realistically speaking, how much faster was the CR 1 for you? Are you happy with the decision that you made?

I currently applied for 1130 and the 129 to make it faster, but everyone seems indifferent. I have my approval so let me know asap, and maybe how to cancel the 129 to go the CR 1 route.

A video about me and my wife. I have been to the DR about 8 times and cant wait to spend my life with her. The video i created myself and has numerous pictures and videos about our life. http://blip.tv/file/2212591/

I just wanted to add my two cents.. my hubby was approved for both the I129 & I130.. currently we are chartering the I129 path only because I didn't file an I130 for my step daughters at the same time I filled for him, well long story short.. our approval came on 02/10/09.. the paper work was sent to the Kingston embassy, and that's where it' been for months now..if I had know this, I would have gone with the I130 and let the states process the rest of our paperwork. At least if I had any questions, I could contact someone and get a straight answer... sorry for the rambling.. :bonk: ... Blessings

I had applied for both and USCIS approved both at the same time.. IR1 on March 20th and K-3 on March 22nd I guess.. I weighed the pros and cons of everything, bugged a lot of people on this forum, and decided to go with the IR-1.. it's just worth the time and effort that you spend on it because K-3 would required the same time n effort but you will have to go through the adjustment of status in the US which can take forever!

So far I am happy with my decision.. I just hope that my husband's interview goes smooth and we are together soon.

PS: K-3 was very useful for people, back in the day, when USCIS was taking longer to approve the IR-1 but now the processing time for both these petitions is pretty much the same so I wonder if K-3 holds the same value as before!

In my experience the CR 1 was better all around. I was part of the thread for people who applied for the K3 and the CR1 and so monitored the process for people who started at the same time as me in both visa categories for almost 9 months. I can tell you that the people who applied for the K3 were not approved for their visa until a few months after people who applied for the CR 1.

Overall, I am very glad I choose the CR1. Not only was my husband here faster but we will not have to deal with immigration for another 2 years. He applied for his SSN, Drivers license, and jobs as soon as he got here. So I have no regrets with choosing the CR 1. Ultimately, you have to choose which visa best fits your needs.

Good luck!

Mrs. Hamilton, if you don't mind sharing, what has Kingston told you regarding why your K3 is not scheduled for an interview date?
