Definitely give yourself a few hours....some go through the POE quite quickly, others can have to wait over an hour. My husband (fiancee at the time) processed through in about an hour. I would give myself at least 3 hours to catch a connecting flight.

Yes, give yourself at least 3 hours possibly 4. It really sucks missing your connecting flight, I tell you from experience. Yah we missed ours and had to wait 3 more hours for next flight but it wasn't really that bad, could be if next flight is 10 hours away though lol.

At JFK I would allow 4 hours minimum between flights. Alla took nearly two hours to get through CBP when she arrived and had NO problems or delays, it is just THAT busy sometimes, then you have to go to another terminal for domestic flights and re-check your bags. Most stress in life is caused by un-realistic expectations, do not increase your stress in life unnecessarily.

Last time I went to the US, JFK was my POE and it took me over 2 hours to go through immigration (and I was on an exchange student visa, which is supposed to be easy). Of course I missed my connecting flight. I would say give it 3 hours at least. Good luck!
