Hello folks,

Is it possible to combine our income together in order to meet the poverty line (125%) to petition my wife's mom? My wife is a US citizen and just became a permanent resident of USA.

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

If your wife's income insufficient, you can use income from other members of the family to make up the shortfall. Please read the instructions on the I-864 form.

If you are using the income of persons in your household or dependents to qualify as a sponsor, you must also submit a separate Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member, for each person whose income you will use.

(You can download the form and instructions from the USCIS website directly.)

Hello folks,

Is she a US Citizen or a greencard holder? She cant be both?

I think it should read "My wife is a US citizen and I just became a permanent resident of USA."

Thats what I thought too. but it would not be the first time someone gets their greencard and thinks they are a citizen. So was just checking.

:rofl: Yeh I have seen that one too..

To the OP yes you can combine your income with your wife's to meet the 125%. You need to complete form I-864A as a household member for your income to be considered.
