Hi Everyone,

I am waiting for my interview date for Montreal. My case was completed on April 24. I have been told by NVC that they only schedule interview times on the second week of each month. There are people that are also going to Montreal that found out last week their interview times but when I called NVC on Friday, I was told again that they only do scheduling on the second week of each month???? Is there different scheduling for different applications? (ie K1, K3, I130...etc) or am I missing something? Thanks for any help.

NVC only scheduling interview for the 1st, and 2nd week of the month. Since your case completed on April-24. By now, their should setup an interview date for you. I would suggest you keep calling them everyday. I did mine. I called NVC everyday to schedule my interview. Just don't worry about NVC. blad blad blac. Just call them everyday.

Good luck.

Sorry dont mean to bud in on your question here . This morning I was wondering the same thing! We received R5 letter from NVC April 28, for R5 ,petition for relative.

On Montreal consolate web , it shows that these interviews are set up tues, thrus, 2:00 - 3:00 only!

So I m thinking , that doesnt leave alot of time aloted for these applications and I will not get an interview until knws how long, so today I was thinking we should call , I have heard lots of people do...But were hesitant cause they tell you not too... bug them... sort of thing.

I wonder how long will we have to wait...

Oh, don't worry about calling them! I call them on a daily basis and when they ask why I'm calling, I either come up with a good excuse or I just simply tell them I'm excited to find out and love to annoy them....most of them laugh!! Last month I called on the Monday of the second week of the month and nothing, but on the Tuesday afternoon of the second week (the next day), I called again and was told that I didn't get an interview for June and to call back 2nd week of June for July interviews!! I'm sure they do all the scheduling today and the computers are updated tonight or tomorrow morning. So I should know by tomorrow afternoon!!! Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me and I'll let everyone know ASAP so that others know to call and find out. Good luck!

There are more than a few of us waiting for interviews in Montreal to be scheduled. Slow pokes.

I sure don't know how they figure it out! Cr-Ir's seem to be booked in faster than K1's. However, I was finished at NVC on April 7th for my Cr-1 and have my interview on June 22nd, while others who were finished with NVC after me; but still in April have had their interviews already. My adult daughter tried to appease my by saying that they must have a cut off date for the month, and then they assign the interviews alphabetically As my last name started with "S" ior "W" depending on married or maiden name it was scheduled for later in the month. It all depends on the volume of applicants too, and Montreal is way too busy. I know this doesn't really help you know when your interviews is, but it is some factual information.

Good luck with all this!

Hi, I am also waiting for my interview to be scheduled. I was approved almost at the same time as you, though I am a K-1 visa applicant. It seems that according to the timelines, the average for k-1's is 3 months in Montreal vs. just a wee single month in Vancouver. So with these major time differences I'm not sure how they sched. interviews. I know Montreal has a larger population base to cover but WOW.

I guess the one thing is that you can take comfort in the fact that there are several of us waiting and sharing your same frustrations. B

OK....I've been in this immigration thing for over a year now and I still don't know the difference between application names. I applied for an I130 is that equivalent to a K1 or K3 or CR1? Or an ASAP C3PO, R2D2, RSVP, LMAO, .....ahhhh the accronyms!!!! LOL :crying::wacko::blink::angry:

Someone please tell me what I applied for??? Is there anyone else out there that applied for an I130?

By the way.....thank you to everyone for your helpful answers!!!

If you filed an I-130 and only an I-130 then you're going for a CR/IR-1. Your timeline says you were married in 2001, so you'll be getting an IR-1 visa rather than a CR-1 (conditional resident).

Thank you everyone for your replies.....I am starting to understand. Am I too understand that since I have been married for so many years that I may not have conditions on my GC or something like that? I did hear something about the length of marriage in relevance to how long I would have to wait to apply for citizenship, which for me would be three years. So, fingers crossed everyone, I'm hoping to hear some good news today about my interview time!!!

Thanks again for your replies.

If you have been married for two years or longer at the time the visa is issued then you will receive an IR-1 visa. Less than two years and you get a CR-1.

The length of the marriage has no bearing on citizenship eligibilty- it is the length of your time as a permanent resident. Once you have been a permanent resident for 3 years, so long as you have been married to and living with the U.S. spouse during that time, you will be eligible for citizenship. If you divorce but maintain your permanent residency then it will be 5 years.

You should head over to the Canadian forum and ask Trailmix to add you to the spreadsheet of those of us waiting for Montreal CR1/IR1 interviews. It's really handy for comparing dates and it's a help to those who are coming after us.
