Ok, for the past 2 years. I've been trying to get married to my Japanese fiance'. But due to me being military and having a crazy work schedule coupled with deployments. Things just haven't been working out for me. We've kept in contact by phone, email and visits every so often. She's coming to visit me June 14th as a matter of fact. I had no idea where to start and and all of my searching for info has finally led me here. I've read through a lot of the information and we have managed to get very little done. This is where we are so far.

I have done letter of intent for both of us. I emailed it to her, she signed it and sent it back to me. The same goes for the G-352A.

I have also filled out an I-129F. Since she's coming here and it ask for info to be filled out in her native writing which would be Kanji. I'm going to have her finish that up when she gets here. I'm also going to have her do another G-352A. She's not very computer savvy, so it looks kind of bad. She has great handwriting, but I prefer to send it in typed so there won't be any confusion.

Now for a few questions. Is there anything I need to tell her to bring with her that to speed the process up? I don't have enough proof of a relationship besides emails, pictures and my phone record. I will have a plane ticket stubb to make copies of when she get's here, but that's about it. How much trouble is this going to cause me? We also have a child. Is there anything special I need to get taken care of to get him over here also? One last thing, will following the information in this link step by step be the correct way to do things and run into the fewest problems?

Now for a little rumor control. Is there an easier way to do this? I heard a rumor that if we both go to Guam and get married, it would cut down on a lot of this stuff. Does anyone know about that?

Thanks in advance for any info you can all give me. I want to get this done as soon as possible while I'll be stable for a year.

I think the items you listed as proof of relationship (especially over 2 years) should be pretty sufficient. My friend successfully did the I-129F (she is Japanese) and her proof was similar to yours.

But wouldn't the "having a kid together" part be the most substantial evidence of your relationship? Are you listed as the father on your child's koseki? I think that is the best proof of your legitimacy as the father and your relationship to your SO by corollary. Also, if you are USC doesn't that make your child USC by default? If your child is already USC then I think your fiancee can just go get a passport for him/her from the US consulate/embassy? I admit that I really don't know about this, and someone please correct me if I am.

Anyway, best of luck with the whole process!

Don't know about Guam.

You do not need proof of relationship for the I-129f. Only proof you met within the last two years, her boarding passes, passport stamps and some photos is all you need. The rest is for the interview

If your son has claim to citizenship, care about that first and get him a passport, then there is no visa needed.

Yes, follow the guides, they are very good

My mistake. I guess I should have been more clear about my son. He's actually my step son. Over time I've come to love him as my own.

Evidence of meeting would be the plane ticket, passport stamps etc you have over the last 2 years. Include the pics and stuff to enhance the evidence of meeting and relationship.

Have her sign the paperwork when she is visiting you. The signatures need to be original, not photocopies or e-mails.

Regarding Guam, you can marry anywhere in the world and file for a spousal visa, no need to fly anywhere in particular. Benefits is its a bit cheaper and she would have a green card upon entry (as would her son assuming you go CR1). Down side is it takes longer.

For her son, he would need a K2 if you went the fiance route. I'm not too sure about how that works since neither of us has kids, but I believe he is listed on the K1 petition (I-129f). Read the guides for more info about it.
