we hope to find some arabic grocery stores or restaurants around there. I gotta have my stuffed grape leaves and Adam has to have his Egyptian beans and rice! We will be living on the outside of Houston more in the county area... I doubt most of the people in that country town have seen an Egyptian before! Its going to be a new change for us and we hope to get settled quick and meet new friends and be close to my family.

Tamara, S.W. Houston is the best place for that. I have a arabic friend who is showing me all the places so when hubby gets here, we can go to the right meat markets, and etc. But S.W. side of Houston has it all, its a melting pot!!!

its about 40 miles from where i live not too bad for texas where everything is extra big :D
Take Hardy toll toad to Houston, then 610 East you will run smack dab into downtown Houston. I travelex that for many years when I was going to Tomball every weekend for many years.

what cities or towns are by sw houston ??

im in pinehurst

S.W. Houston is the southwest side of Houston, still in Houston city limits. is about 20 minutes from downtown, 59 south all the way. Kirby Drive, Montrose area, Westheimer, all if it is there, one big melting pot. You can find anything you want there.

I was surprised when my Arabic translator/friend was showing me around there one day. Funny part Ive lived here for 30 years now, LOL But life will be a bit different when hubster arrives, cant buy our meat at Kroger or Randalls or Wal-Mart no more.

P,S, I know Pinehurst like the back of my hand, Dobbin Hufsmith road , I use to board my horse there for many many years.

im going to explore today.. full gas tank and some dollars in the pocket :D

Try Droubi's,(2721 Hillcroft St. Houston, TX 77057)between Richmond and Westheimer... good grocery store and deli. Also, Jerusalem Halal Meats (3330 Hillcroft St, #I, Houston, TX 77057, between Westpark and Richmond). Both are on SW side of town. A very good restaurant is on Westheimer, not too far from these two grocery stores. Its called Fadi's Mediterranean Grill, 8383 Westheimer Rd., Ste 112.

Have fun exploring.
