Hope gimy doesn't mind.

me?? mind?? don't be silly!!!

as for the other pink elephant we can't talk about ... we CAN talk about this one!! it's not the soccer thread per se that has caused sarah to leave ... it was lisa's response to michelle in said thread that compounded her decision. once again, michelle perceived that she was being attacked. i think lisa's post was spot on and not confrontational at all given michelle's previous response when they tried to have a 'private' discussion. ah well ....

now personally, i think sarah is one cool chick and have enjoyed her lively posts ... but i would never be someone's enabler because they could not stand up for themselves. everyone is michelle's friend until they actually try and help her ... then you might as well #### off because you're not commiserating with her. i'm sorry, i can't do that.

i don't think a whole drama thread was warranted in this situation ... you could have easily answered the few pm's you would have gotten ... it's probably safe to say that those you are close to here would actually already know.

as for michelle's departure, it's a shame because i was really looking forward to seeing the pictures of her and craig from her meetup with amanda(AmeraMouttaki) which was scheduled for tonight ... seems more like a planned exit to me.

I PMd Sukes because I was sad to see her go. She told me that while I wasn't the reason, my 'attack' on Michelle was one of the things that made her think this place has changed. Which actually suprised me for many reasons. One reason is that it had absolutely nothing to do with Sarah, but whatever....

Now there's a mini story that I'm not going to get into, but at the end of the day, I do not feel what I did was actually 'attack' Michelle. Yes, I disagreed with her...funnily enough, I tried to ensure that my post was as non-insulting as possible,...and up until last night, I thought I had done a good job. Yes I am through spouting lollipops and rainbows to certain people...I am not a robot or parrot, and if you want to engage me in conversation, don't expect me to go all Stepford for your benefit. But it wasn't malicious. It was the way I felt, and if some people can't handle that, well that's unfortunate.

We all have problems, and while it'd be a good idea to wrap some people in cotton wool, it's really not practical whatsoever. What kind of adults have we become when we can't even handle a little discord?

While I am sad to see Sukie go, I am not sorry for what I said. Life is not about always agreeing with each other and blowing sunshine, IMO. Sometimes people may take umbrage with what I say, but I'm a firm believer in at least being upfront and not just going behind someone's back to talk chit. I believe my upfrontedness should at least be appreciated, but eh, everyone has a different opinion.

Despite what's being said, I am not taking the responsibility of this little exodus. If some people are looking for nothing but sh!ts and giggles, perhaps it is best that you go to a place where you can control the environment. When you put stuff out there, you can't then bash ppl over the head for commenting.

I decided to post this because I felt it's prolly already being talked about, and tbh, while I have no use for drama, I am not going to go hide in the corner and wait for this to blow over as if I have summat to hide. I stand by my words, both last night and now.

Sukie and (I think) Michelle have decided to leave, so I wish them the best of luck. Hopefully you both will find the utopia you want.

... seems more like a planned exit to me.

There you go again with your conspiracies--wait by saying there you go again--then I am stating that you have not changed--and therefore VJ has not either.

Damn can't we just all get along and do some laundry around here? Too much angst and not enough laundry that is the problem with VJ, not changes--but lack of sameness.

IMO these little spats need to be settled in PMs. Personally I would be upset if I responded to a PM and then details of the reply was posted for all of the VJ world to see. That's just me though. I have met some dear friends here on VJ, met a couple even with my long stay in Egypt and words cannot begin to say how much I appreciate them. I really would have had much of a harder time on this terribly long journey without them.

Since joining VJ not that long ago, I have seen a change too. A lot in the mannerism of the replys to innocent questions, then there have been the threads that make anyone go hmmmmmmmmmmm. I can't compare to what it was like when other members joined years ago, but in a few short months VJ is not as pleasant as it was before.

There were many times during the visa wait that I would see someone post how hard of a time they were having with waiting missing their fiances/husbands/wife, and inevidably someone would make an ill comment on how they were acting. I realize everyone processes stress differently, but when someone says they are having a hard time, they need support, not a knife in the back. If you have walked the walk, then you can talk the talk to me. I have posted in the past regarding PMs that were sent to me during my stay in Egypt saying how stupid I am, etc, etc, etc. Exactly the things I did not need to be hearing when I was at the lowest of my life. I know of a few gals on the ME/NA forums that really need VJ for support and then someone makes a stupid comment, so uncalled for. No matter where our fiances/spouses are coming from, they are human beings with feelings, we all need to respect that.

Guess this is my short story for the week. Hope everyone is doing well!

FWIW, Crazy in Egypt...I agree about the PM thing...the problem is, here's a thread that skirts around an entire issue with the finger pointed randomly anywhere. And everyone's all 'who? where? what?" It's like a half story, which IMO is really unfair to anyone who reads it. So since I got somewhat of an answer & decided to share so that some of the speculation may die down.

I also didn't feel thtat I was divulging any truly pvt info...

Under normal circumstances, I do agree tho. But sometimes IMO an exception has to be made. I have to say I don't agree with this thread at all...it pepetrates the very same drama it's running from (as someone already said). It's causing everyone to speculate and pull apart posts to see 'where the probbo is'. Essentially, (again, IMO) this thread is just like a big ** YOU to those of us who are no longer in/never were in 'the inner circle'

It'd have been very easy to PM friends...in fact, Sarah said she's still going to be pm-ing friends with her new site...so really, what purpose does this thread serve?

I'm done! :)
