Well I think the ladies here are a bit more chummy with each other than the men and get their feelings hurt if someone goes after them in a thread.

To be fair, there are a few male posters who get their panties in a bunch if you go after them too.

And there are some females who don't let it get to them either. Gimy comes to mind as only one example (there are others).

Look at the women that have posted they all know each other's first name. How many men have you given out your name or know their name. There are a few women that will get into it with you and not whine, but I think the rest want this to be one Kumbya party.

I guess I have never understood why complete strangers attack someone on a personal level... when they don't know them.

Other then that, people agree with your opinion or they don't, it doesn't matter. But why people get hateful and angry is beyond me.

It does not have to be a complete stranger--I have seen many times in my work where emails or other written communication is misinterpreted. And this among coworkers that are as you thought your friend or aquaintance at the very least. I therefore use very generic correspondence, and if its more personal I wait and have a face to face with the parties in the conversation. People will be 180 the other way face to face.

Hmmm.....well.....

When I contribute to heated threads it's not to bash or tear someone apart for their thoughts or opinions. I state my opinion and go on. I have been attacked before too.....called names and such. But I'm still here. VJ is like an extended family for me, in a sense. Yeah, I'm blunt....maybe my bluntness is seen as a personal attack. If so, I do apologise. At least I can see this for what it is....an internet forum. When you post a response or start a thread you DO open yourself up for ALL types of responses. Have I been offended? Yes, but I would hope I'm adult enough to take it with a grain of salt (as Laura says) and go on. With all the stress of this process its any wonder any of us are still sane, yanno?

At any rate, that's my 49cents worth :)

VJ is like a roller coaster there are ups and downs and twists and turns.... but VJ has basically stayed the same..... people come and people go,

there have always been debates and fights and arguements ever since I have been a member...

As a self-qualified very longstanding VJer..... YUP, I agree with Marilyn.

But c'est la vie, in the end people need to do what's right for them.....

I'm not ready to let go of VJ just yet.... too many good flame wars, jokes, debates, kittens & puppies, weddings, and just plain fun stuff to do while "working" *cough* And besides that, I still need to suss out Agent Smith's real name ...

ooh ooh! I guess that means I am a longstanding VJer too. :P I was just thinking that it's cool if some older members are still around or can pop in at times, as success stories. There are topics of divorce from time to time(not that often though) and so it's good for people in the midst of the process to also see couples that have almost made it past those first 2 years or so of marriage living together and are still happy(I'm almost there, woohoo!). I guess besides being addicted  , my(our) successful visa process/marriage can encourage others? :P

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

It's unfortunate to see that a long standing member only feels validated in leaving when another enables them and posts a cryptic farewell thread as well. It's also sad that a farewell thread gets reported, as if the drama of just leaving wasn't enough. How can one discern it was reported? Captain Ewok never posts on threads unless they are brought to his attention.

I wish Sukie175 and her new club well on their venture. I'm sure their site will be filled with meaningless posts where no one gets real for fear of hurting someone's fragile ego with the truth. Cheers.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
