This thread is getting boring. Flinging insults left and right is getting boring. All the hatred of people no one has ever met is getting boring.

It's a dang good thing message boards were ever invented.

I agree. Cleaning out my horse trailer is going to be more interesting at this point. Think I'm just gonna sign off and go do it...

Cheers to those of you who are going to keep this one going... Jen

I think that we would be well-served if we stopped a minute and thought before posting things that could only be considered inflammatory. No one likes to be at the receiving end of such stuff no matter what they might say. It is all very well to be blunt... but if that bluntness is gonna hurt someone who is already hurting then I would say it is better to say nothing. I love being a part of VJ - you have all been such a support to me when I have felt down/low.... my advice is stop the personal attacks and get back the caring, supportive atmosphere that made VJ special.

I can tell you that on my Bazaar - we simply do not allow personal attacks of any sort... call Bush what you want; call Blair what you want... but you do not attack a fellow member of the Bazaar... you can disagree - but without resorting to personal slights. It would be a boring world if we all agreed with one another... but one can disagree without being nasty.

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

If what happens in OT happened in the Immigration forums, I'd agree. I don't see the need for active moderation in OT, however. Occassional chaos ain't such a bad thing.

I agree!!

if it got too boring theere is www. ilw

Maybe if we all just stopped being such drama queens!

Maybe if we all just stopped being such drama queens!

:lol::lol: oh boy... that's funny!

I thought so too!!!

Now I may be blunt & say how I feel, but you don't catch me with no 'wah wah my feelings are hurt' stuff.

If that's what you're implying, I'd have to disagree. ;)

Maybe if we all just stopped being such drama queens!

:lol::lol: oh boy... that's funny!

No #######................................

is that the Royal "we" or do you mean any one in particular...........does this include you??

Answered above...

We don't have to be the lolipop gang here...and if you don't like me, that's fine too. not gonna go cry into a pillow

But it's a messageboard...a lil perspective on that is good :)

I agree,

I dont think I ever said - waaa waaa I am gonna go and cry in a pillow - then jump of some bridge - after I get a cuppa cuppa - watch days of our lives - then say i quit VJ and then lurk for 2 days.

only the drama queens do that!!! gagg!

I agree with you Melo, but for whatever reason, and maybe it's just all the stress of immigration, people on this site seem to have "thinner skin" than most. I know I have said things that I thought were innocuous, and have had people get their knickers in a knot over it. I remember one seemingly innocent comment you made about a certain "American Idol" winner and his constipated face that sent one other member slightly over the edge. That was certainly not a "personal attack" but yet people responded like you put down their mother or something...

I just think that, on this site where emotions already run high, if we have to check everything we write against a list of who we may potentially offend, all that will be left for us to write are little yellow smilies and fluffy kitties.

Happy

Here we go again.

Show me one person that doesn't think this thread is pure drama

Then tis my guess you like Drama??

Want the honest truth? I'm sad to see Sukie go. I'm personally annoyed it was done in this fashion cos I gave her more credit. And I think the notion that it's somehow the board's fault...when it was her choice to leave...and how somehow the board is deficient or whatever...is wrong, so I said so.

I'm not trying to fan flames, but you can only give people the power to upset you or not...and tbh, if I seemed to like a place to the point where I made friends and felt like it was my 'cyberhome' and I saw it changing to summat I didn't like, I'd try to dig in and change it back. I'd fight for it, not just walk away in one of these 'oh I'm going to post this thread so my friends know so I don't have to be pm-ing everyone...but then I'm going to pm them all anyways so that they come to my new place' It's cowardly IMO and drama laden...

So yeah...I choose to post saying we should all be less drama queenish. Dont' see anything particularly incorrect in that statement. We're all adults here, there's going to be disagreements. The most important thing is still being adult about things even iwhile disagreeing ;)

Now I may be blunt & say how I feel, but you don't catch me with no 'wah wah my feelings are hurt' stuff.

If that's what you're implying, I'd have to disagree. ;)

But it's a messageboard...a lil perspective on that is good :)

i say... we agree to disagree...

and good advice that... taking things into perspective i mean... let's see if that is practiced...

I love veiled threats!

Lisa.

Thats how drama queens operate~

They start " I am leaving VJ threads " then they PM all their buddies to join the new

" drama queen unite club" then they come back stir the poo a few more times. then they leave.

but see they will be back! VJ is like a VICE. once you got the VJ vice its hard to walk away.

its the only place were Drama.. is queen!

hypocrite

one who puts on a mask and feigns himself to be what he is not; a dissembler in

religion. Our Lord severely rebuked the scribes and Pharisees for their

hypocrisy (Matt. 6:2, 5, 16). "The hypocrite's hope shall perish" (Job 8:13).

The Hebrew word here rendered "hypocrite" rather means the "godless" or

"profane," as it is rendered in Jer. 23:11, i.e., polluted with crimes.

I never said i was'nt a B1tch  ...I just said you were

I could never be so mad at such a minor annoyance...so nope, not gonna resort to name calling...

:o NO? hahahahahahahahaha WHATEVER!!!!!!! :whistle::whistle:

...and how dare I say people were being Drama queens?

thanks for helping prove that ;)

I usually don't post much here in VJ unless it's something I feel strongly about, so here goes....

I know Sarah personally, we actually met here on VJ a year and a half ago and live 7 miles apart. I have not talked to her for a couple of weeks and have only read this thread today. It actually is the perfect example of what she was talking about in the first place. We have discussed VJ many times and laugh at some of dynamic that occurs here. I can assure you all she is not the "drama queen" you portray her to be. She is a very strong, independant woman who can take the ####### as well as give. It is true that there are some on here that use rudeness as their MO and post to make waves and then there are others who cannot take the least bit of criticism. I am one who enjoys reading the flame war and drama, but it does get out of hand at times and gets malicious. If some of you remember, I was the OP of the infamous "intimidated" thread that got deleted. For those of you who don't, some of us in chat one night decided to stage a huge flame war just to show how riduculous it really is and to make everyone laugh.

I don't spend as much time of VJ as Sarah, so I don't get as involved, but, I am very disappointed that some in this community chose to berate her for a decision and explanation. I know she has made alot of friends on here and I think she was just trying to give the community an explanation as to why she won't be here in the future and to give those people who she has developed a repore with a chance to keep in touch. She does have a point about the atmosphere around here lately, I have read some pretty offensive posts lately. Being a long time member myself, I have watched the dynamic change from time to time and hopefully people will lighten up once again. It IS sad to see long term members leave, especially those who post regularly. I miss alot of the members who used to be on here when I first came, but sh$t happens and things change.

Yes, this is the internet and a public forum where people are entitled to their opinion and to express it, but, I can assure that some of you were way off on this one.

OK, that's all I wanted to say. Flame on.

You can do better than this, LisaD.

and what does a post by Danette have to do with me? Awwww, you've got a crush on me!! (L)

As far as Danette's post, I actually agree with most of it. Yes, I do think this thread was started for drama....and if you don't agree, that's fine...but no amount of beratement or insults is going to change the way I feel.

I said one line 'maybe we all need to stop being such drama queens' and look at what's ensued. For the sake of 'peace' or whatever, I have had grown adults acting like children trying to rile me up, insult me, whatever. That's fine, I am truly not bothered...but I find it really quite spectacular that in the process of maligning me & telling me what a biotch I am, you validate my actual point in the process. Yes, I'm a boitch...not a malicious one, but a biotch in the respect that I WILL speak my mind as tactfully as I can & not slag ppl off behind their backs. Deal with it or not..your choice.

Free will is a biotch too, eh ;)

Now while it may be sooo empowering to stand up to 'evil Lisa'....you do realize you're creating the same drama that made Sukie want to leave in the first place?

Now my BBQ is about to begin, so cya later guys! Find a stand in pariah til I get back! ;)

This may be read as "bla bla bla" by some...and that's ok..I just want to type what I thought of after reading the recent pages I hadn't seen yet. :)

I can see points from both sides of the argument on this one. Which argument you might ask? Well when one side says it's just an internet forum, don't let anything bother you and the other side who always gets bothered.

I do not believe in the motto "it's only the internet", because, I met my husband online and have met friends online, so it's not just a location somewhere in the universe where I treat fellow members as not real or as robots. I do not post on other message boards and I have not been tainted maybe by the whole "it's just a message board" thing. I try to remember it's real people behind the keyboard, and I try to just ignore those who write nothing beneficial. There are members on VJ that I cannot stand what they write, and haven't liked most of what they wrote since they joined VJ. Rude but true and I know we all have those in our minds! In those cases, I try to avoid interaction with them because it's better than pretending to be nice.

There have been times when I have been very ticked off after certain discussions on VJ, and have thought about not coming back anymore. But I never announced that I wasn't coming back, due to the fact that most people don't really leave, and I knew it'd be pointless to start a "goodbye" thread! If I was going to leave, I'd PM people who might actually want to know and then just go. As you can tell I never left VJ! :P

At the same time, I have seen so many people who thought they were such good VJ buddies, then turn on eachother and it's so stupid.

Don't think people on here are your real friends unless you know more about eachother than their visa timeline, and don't think people are your real friends just because you joke with them constantly. I avoid being too buddy buddy with everyone and anyone on VJ, because I know it's all jokes one day and then people can become jerks in an instant. It's not because I think they are not real people, but it's because you don't see the more true sides of people til awhile later sometimes. People being nice and joking around, acting like they are good friends with you, has to be taken with a grain of salt. I do have people who I consider my VJ buddies, some who I least expected! I have also had fun times joking in the past with many members, but that didn't mean we were tight friends or friends at all.

So you shouldn't let what certain people say bother you, if you don't care about what they say usually. If it's someone you thought was your buddy, then yes it can hurt and why shouldn't it?

But still VJ has not changed! I used to think that too, but it hasn't. And Sarah who started this thread was saying how not nice the atmosphere has gotten here...well I bet if you asked Charles and Nessa their opinion, Sarah actually wasn't very nice to them, always criticizing them for being lovey dovey on VJ. Was that adding to the lost nice atmosphere here?

Just something to think about.

I post on a number of different (non immigration) web forums, and its a mystery to me why people here aren't able (or willing) to treat others with respect. Don't have that problem on the other forums...

Actually I've gotten it in McD's in Canada !

From Wikipedia

Poutine (pronounced, roughly, poo-tsin; exact Quebecer pronunciation is IPA [pʊʦɪn] — listen to it in .wav format) is a dish consisting of french fries topped with fresh cheese curds and covered with hot gravy and sometimes other additional ingredients.

The curds' freshness is important as it makes them soft in the warm fries, without completely melting. (When the curds are very fresh they will often squeak between the teeth.)

Poutine is a fast food staple in eastern Canada; it is sold by nearly all fast food chains (such as New York Fries and Harvey's) in the provinces, in small diners and pubs, as well as by roadside "Poutine Trucks". International chains like McDonalds, A&W, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Burger King now sell mass-produced poutine across Canada. New York Fries has poutine on the menus of its U.S. and Australian outlets as well as those in Canada. Popular Quebec restaurants that serve poutine are Chez Ashton, La Belle Province, Stratos, Bravo and Valentine. Also, poutine is very popular in student cafeterias in high schools and universities.

Poutine is available in only a few places outside of Canada, including the northern United States; Cuba (in some Canadian owned hotels); the Maple Leaf Pub in London England; the Moosehead Pub in Paris; Becker's in Japan; Rocky Mountain Tavern in South Korea; a handful of restaurants in Taipei, Taiwan; and even one snack bar in Burkina Faso (La Québécoise).

To my friends, who know who they are....I wish you the best of everything and if you want to stay in touch PM me. I am going to set up a site for a select few who know how to truly care, advise and support each other. On that site members will be invited, so I guess if you don't get an invite you know your past actions here were not always appreciated!

I was going to respond to this, but it's all been said before and more eloquently than I could have put it.

I dunno, are we back in high school now? We're not cool enough to be part of the elite clique?

Best of luck to you both, Sukie and Michelle. Honestly, I've never had any problems with you two. But this post kinda makes me feel icky.
