Just Filed I-130, Questions on Next Round of Forms???

I just Filed the I-130 to get the party started!

1. Now I want to get ready for the next round of forms by trying to have the filled out in advance if at all possible… That way as soon as NVC contacts me / my wife with the “forms package”, we will already have all the forms completed and just send it back to them immediately… is this possible?

2. In any event, I am seeing conflicting info on what forms I need to work on next…

2A. When I look at the VisaJourney document/page/guide entitled “What Happens After You Mail the I-130 Out?”, it talks about the following forms: “Of-169”, and “Of-230”. But when I go to the USCIS site, I don’t see those forms listed… what’s up with that?

2B. Also, when I look on the “Timeline” that I filled out for VisaJourney, the “Of-169” and the “Of-230” are NOT mentioned. The next forms it mentions are the DS-3032 (I think that's a form?), and the I-1864.

Again, when I go the USCIS site, nothing turns up for the DS-3032 search?

I already have my I-1864 filled out, and I will order my tax transcripts soon (I just filed for 3 years at the same time, so I suspect I need to wait a bit before I order the transcripts).

3. Are there any other forms or documents that I SHOULD be preparing right now?

4. Also, the VisaJourney page "What Happens After You Mail the I-130 Out?" says that NVC will mail my wife (immigrant) the forms package...?

Is it just me or doesn't that pose a problem (i.e. she will then have to send the stuff to me anyway?) and/or it's counterproductive since I am doing most of the paperwork AND she speaks very little English!?

Thanks in advance for any help…

Hi!

Once your I-130 is approved, your case is sent to the NVC. Please see the NVC flowchart:

http://www.visajourney.com/examples/NVC_Pr...wchart_v1-2.pdf

To answer some of your questions:

1. Yes, it's good to get all your stuff ready ahead of time.

2B. OF-230 is also known as DS-230.

And yes, the first thing your wife will get is the DS-3032 (Choice of Agent). You will get NOA2 and I-864.

The DS-230 will be sent to the agent (you or your wife depending on who you put down on the DS3032). Because you'll probably do most of the paperwork, you're going to have to be named the agent.

3. Just start collecting documents like birth certificates and later on police certificates.

4. If you're the agent, they'll mail stuff to you not to her.

Good luck!

Looking4Wife,

OF-169 is now DS-2001.

OF-230 is now DS-230

You're not going to find Department of State forms in the USCIS web site.

Become familiar with Google.

Very good questions. I just got my I-130 approved and it is on a way to NVC. I am totally lost in all the information about what's next. I was sure my K-3 will get approved sooner ( pre-IMBRA of course)

Shortcuts seem to be pretty useful. Thanks to everyone who put those together.

Taxes: I filed mine online through turbotax, so do I need to just print them up? What is that that needs to be submitted. I have my w-2 forms and all that jazz. Do I need to call IRS and request them from IRS?

I am a little confused :help:

I think that I have everything else in order and choice of agent form was faxed to my hubby this morning, so he can sign it and mail it.

This is overwhelming, I thought this day will never come

Eva.

If you e-filed, you may need to order tax transcripts from the IRS. Just give them a call... the transcripts are free.
