Hello...

I've been reading this forum for like a year waiting for my man to finally propose.

And he did. I'm going back to the US as a visitor in 3 weeks, we'll start to fill the forms then.

So for now we're gathering all documents.

Let's be honest, my american fiancé is a monkey when it comes to paperwork or organisation.

So we need his birth certificate (the long form, yeah i've been reading the guides over and over again).

And tadaaaa, he doesn't know in which county he was born!

So at least, he knows he was born in St. Louis Missouri, but there are two countys, St. Louis and St Louis City.

He's got no clue which one it is... He lost his parents so he has no one to ask.

He's got a passport though, of course; but this is it. He doesn't know which hospital neither...

Anyone's got an idea where should we ask to get this information?

I thought that maybe we could make the resquest to Saint Louis, and if it's not there I guess they check Saint Louis City but well...

Or would it be written St. Louis City on his passport if that's were he was born?

Help...!

FWIW, You have got his passport why do you need his BC?

The USC's citizenship can be evidenced by a BC or his passport... If that is what you are trying to do, then you don't have a problem

If you are filing the I-129F a BC for the USC is NOT required and can use the US Passport instead in order to prove citizenship.

What Documents Do You Need to Show That You Are a U.S. Citizen?

A. If you were born in the United States, give USCIS a copy, front and back, of your birth certificate.

1. Your original Certificate of Citizenship, or

2. Your Form FS-240 (Report of Birth Abroad of a United States Citizen).

B. If you were naturalized, give USCIS a copy, front and back, of your original Certificate of Naturalization.

C. If you were born outside the United States and you are a U.S. citizen through your parents, give USCIS:

D. In place of any of the above, you may give USCIS a copy of your valid, unexpired U.S. passport issued with a validity period of at least five years. You must submit copies of all pages in the passport.

Are you sure it is two counties? Many counties/cities have merged, particularly in the south and midwest. But since you've narrowed it down it should not be a problem, most counties have a number to call for "vital statistics" as it is usually called, try those. One of them will have it and usually send a certifed copy for a small fee.

Very true, the BC is not absolutely required, BUT it is one of those good things for a grown up to have, so if it isn't problem, order one up

Thank you, I found a phone number for Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, despite the fact there's one for each county.

They probably can help.

I also believe that no matter what he needs one. :)
