Hi henry7174.

The decision would be up to you.

If your wife complies with the request for medicals and interview in June, then she will receive a K3 visa at the end of the process. (This is a temporary resident visa.)

If she ignores the June interview request, then she will proceed with the IR-1 visa process, which, depending on which USEM is processing the visa application (some countries take longer than others, I believe), may take another 6 to 12 months. (This is a permanent resident visa.)

From what I have read from the Guides and from the actual experiences of the VJ posters, the K3 Visa process in some cases is shorter but more expensive...and the IR-1 visa process is a little longer but less expensive in the long run.

In the end it all depends on you...are you willing to wait a little longer so your spouse lands as a permanent resident? Or is it more important for you to be reunited as soon as possible?

You may want to study further what the track record of the USEM in your country is like. I think there are country-specific VJ forums here that can address your local concerns...please find out if there is one.

Hi Henry,

Congrats on I-130 approval for your spouse.

I actually need some info from you. I've applied for I-130 and I-129F for my wife who lives in Delhi. We are trying to figure out the duration for which the Police Clearance Cert is required. Did you guys end up getting the PCC from all the places that your spouse has lived since the age of 16? Any information on this would be helpful.

Thanks!
