Dear all,

I'm engaged to a US Citizen who has not relocated yet to my country, Indonesia (he is still in US, and regularly visits me).

We plan to get married next year in Indonesia, and yet, we would like me to visit his family in US (for max. 1 week) prior to the wedding as his mom is very old already and for sure will not able to attend our wedding next year in Indonesia.

Therefore, I applied for a regular tourist visa (which is then confirmed by USCIS office that this is the type of visa I need).

On the day of the visa interview, I brought all documents, letters from my fiance & his mom, my family card (which states that I have a son in Indonesia), letter from my employer, etc. However, I know already that my saving amount in my bank account is not sufficient for me to be then considered by the interviewer as "having a strong economic link to Indonesia" which will ensure my return (according to them).

As predicted, my application was rejected, as the consular office saw my bond to US is stronger than Indonesia, regardless the fact that I'm single mom with my small son.

There is no way I can boost up my saving to over 10,000 USD (which what most people have and their application got approved). All I had that day was my genuine intention of visiting US, and then my fiance will go back to Indonesia with me and stay until our wedding day, so that we can all be together (my son, my fiance, and me).

I almost give up in even trying to get a US tourist visa again, and just get married here without meeting his family first (which will saddened his mom, for sure as she really wishes to meet me in person).

Does anyone have any advice for my situation?

Thanks

The Embassy views it as Intent to immigrate like you said "As predicted, my application was rejected, as the consular office saw my bond to US is stronger than Indonesia" I don't think even if you boost up your savings it will help.
