Well - this will be my first poll (and my first thread, I think) in the Canadian regional forum! I hope I don't mess it up like the last poll I did

With Canada Day and 4th of July both right around the corner, we're all getting that patriotic fervor!

In my experience it's more common for Americans to display their colors than for Canadians to display their colours.

I have a small American flag in my backyard. Those great big ones in the front yard are a bit ostentatious for my style.

What do you do?

I have the small hand-held American and Canadian flags and I stick those in the planters out front for Canada Day and July 4th. They are up for a few weeks and then I take them down.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Well, I really can't answer in the poll as I'm not south yet!!

I don't put out a flag here at home, and Tim doesn't have a flag at his house either, but if it counts for anything, we're going to have a small Canadian and American flag on the head table at our reception.

What do you do?

What? No Quebec flag?

You can't expect me to put a Canadian flag, I mean, I'm a big bad separatist.

Joking. We don't do flags.

Laugh, you beat me to it.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

At our old house I hut the small handheld American and Canadian flags that I stuck in my planters out front. Probably will do the same at the new house closer to July. This new house has a flag holder on the front deck but I don't have a flag in it yet. Think on July 1st I will put out the Canadian flag and then on the 4th change it to the American flag.

Both for the house if we can get a decent Cdn one - I always dig the volunteer organization who goes around here in VA and sticks a small American flag by everyone's mailbox a day or 2 before July 4th....neat.

Which reminds me - I noticed a house around the corner that flies a Cdn flag - maybe I will find some new friends?!

We don't put up any. But my father in law puts up one on Canada Day and then flies the US flag all year long. He's kinda sweet that way.

Awe.. you know.. that's just sweet..

We have a US flag that was flown over Bagdad  given to us by my BIL, but we've not flown it.. we just don't roll like that..

I would definitely go to that house and knock on the door! How fun! Let us know if you do go.

Which brings up another topic - Americans are very particular about the treatment fo the flag - i mean...I remember learning about flag care in Brownies, but don't think much of it. One day we were putting our American flag up and we were struggling with the hooks , so i threw the flag down on the front steps for a second to help him and I thought Don was going to have a heart attack - he immediately jumped over and picked it up and I was like - what's the big deal - it's a flag...a piece of cloth.......

Don't say that to an American :) it's much more then a piece of cloth...I guess my Cdn attitude is more relaxed about our flag.
