I have to redo my biometrics because "FBI was unable to read my finger print card."

Does this sort of thing happen a lot? Or only just to me? I'm so worried that I might never be able to complete the biometrics because my finger prints are just not as clear as other people's. :crying:

Also each time I have biometrics I have to spend $100 just get to the local office (Syracuse) which is most inconvenient location for people who can't drive (and whose spouses can't skip work to drive you there). Is it possible to change your local office? I go to NYC by bus regularly so it will be much more convenient if I can get biometrics done in NYC. If you know please help me :help:

Yes - happens a lot.

Make sure you don't put any creams or lotion on your hands prior to going to the place.

(and carry napkins to wipe off sweat).

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

It happens - not a lot but it does happen.

Couple of things you might want to know - First; most ASCs accept walk ins provided you have your appointment letter - this means you can usually go any day they're open before your appointment date (in other words you can do it on your spouses day off possibly). Second - I would imagine any ASC will do your biometrics - on a walk-in basis as well.

Try contacting the ASC nearest/most-convenient to you

Hi,

Do not worry, this is an inconvenience but it should be nothing more than that.

It does not seem to be that uncommon, especially for people who work with their hands a lot, like construction workers or musicians, which can wear down finger prints apparently.

If I am not mistaken, you can receive a letter to go redo the prints twice. After this, usually people are just asked to go to the local police station for a background check. You will not need any documents from your home country for this, since they are focusing on the period since you arrived in the US. (You should have already submitted the police report in the previous stage, in order to obtain the visa.)

Do a search for previous threads about this in this AOS Forum. There have already been quite a few posts about this topic, you should find all the info you need to put your mind at ease.

Good luck!
