Should I/ how to register for status updates?

Where should I register for I-751 status updates? Are they sending e-mail with updates or I have to log in and check status every time?

And what “touched” means? I see many of you are listing this info.

Where do you see that your case is “touched”?

Once you log in or they send you email every time they access your case?

USCIS's website has a status online page where you can sign up and enter your case numbers and follow it. Often enough it's not updated properly but usually they do send an e-mail informing status changes.

That USCIS thing is useless! Never received a single email for touch or anything else. Even now it's showing my case as pending while I received approval letter in the mail on 5/8.
